To facilitate administration and governance of the university to achieve recruitment and retention objectives via communication planning, products, and services in accordance to the Institution of Higher Learning, the University, NCAA. and SWAC rules and regulations. To provide the University with communications counsel and to increase employee awareness and understanding of the University's goals, objectives, initiatives, and policies regarding Diversity, Educational Equity and Inclusion, Title IX and Civil Rights. Professional Experience: September 2014 Alcorn State University, Lorman, MS Present Director of Diversity, Educational Equity and Inclusion/Title IX Coordinator Responsible for assessing current programs and populations regarding diversity matters and use those assessments to propose and implement new initiatives. University’s Title IX and Affirmative Action Coordinator which oversees monitoring of University policy in relation to Title IX law developments; implementation of grievance procedures, including notification, investigation and disposition of complaints; provision of educational materials and training for the campus community; conducting and/or coordinating investigations of complaints received pursuant to Title IX; ensuring a fair and neutral process for all parties; and monitoring all other aspects of the University’s Title IX compliance. As the Affirmative Action Coordinator, advises and assists departmental personnel to ensure that Alcorn State University is in compliance with Equal Employment Commission guidelines and promotes an environment free from discrimination and workplace harassment for all employees and applicants; and responds to complaints from enforcement agencies in conjunction with The Office of the President. Strategizes and coordinates ways to support and manage gender equity and Advisor to Diversity and Gender Equity organizations Title IX plans and issues. Serves on the Steering Committee for NCAA Self-Study Serves on the Faculty Athletic Advisory Committee Serves on institutional Title IX committee. Served as the University spokesperson on University-wide concerns at the request of the President and provided counsel and advice on major public relations issues. Served on the President’s Transition Team and chaired the Public Relations Committee Participated on several committees designed to maintain and/or update the university’s current standing (Strategic Planning, Crisis Management, SACS). Maintained good professional working relationships with all media in the primary geographical areas served by the university. Supervised a staff of four; university webmaster, sports media director, special project coordinator, staff writer/international recruiter. 1998-2005/2007 WPRL Radio Alcorn State University, Lorman, MS Operations Manager/Program Director Was responsible for monitoring a staff of eight employees, interns, work study students and radio production students, in meeting FCC requirements and making sure that all equipment was upgraded to HD quality as specified by the Federal Communications Commission. Was responsible for programming and formatting music and talk shows to be aired live or pre-recorded. Produced documentaries for Public Radio. Was liaison between artists and record labels. Produced local jazz programming that aired weekdays. Engineered sporting events that were aired on WPRL and syndicated to 12 other radio stations throughout the state and fed via the Internet nationally. Purchased audio equipment viable for broadcasting and remotes. Prepared documents to support grants for the radio station. Assisted the department chair with other forms relative to day-to-day operations of the radio station. Alcorn State University/Mississippi State, Alcorn State/Starkville, MS 2005-2006 Joint 4-H Youth Educator Was responsible for implementing and maintaining programs and youth clubs in the schools and communities surrounding Wilkinson County. 1989-1998 WTYJ/WMIS, Natchez, MS General Manager Supervised payroll, conducted bi-monthly staff meetings, oversaw final production of commercials and mediated talk and sports shows. Engineered games for various sports networks. Increased local and national sales from $240,000 to more than $700,000 annually on a 30,000-watt radio station. Implemented training courses for new recruits, speeding training and profitability. 1990 – 2009 VOP Media, Natchez, MS CEO Recording Artist.
