Of the 66 rapes, 25 were "by police officer(s) on duty".

In October, the Cape Argus reported that multiple cases of sexual assault had been made against a Cape Town police officer.

The Bellville South policeman was in court over charges of the statutory rape of two boys but there were six more potential complainants.
