Introduction What You Need: • • iMovie app • Other materials specific to your group’s needs What You Do: You and your group will create iMovies that will be used for review for the final exam. You will use the iPads and the iMovie app to create a math review movie or trailer focusing on specific content. You will have time during class to work on this project with your group members. 1. You and your group members will pick a topic from the list provided out of a hat. Topics include all units studied this year. 2. Decide what you would like to focus on specifically within the topic. 3. Brainstorm ideas for production. Decide how you will present the information to the audience. BE CREATIVE! You may sing, rap, use puppets, role play, create a podcast, dance, create news cast, etc. 4. You will take all of your photos and videos on the iPad. 5. You must create an iMovie that is a maximum 4 minutes. 6. Assign roles to each group member to gather information and materials for production. 7. Once you have planned what you want to do and how you will do it, get started!

iMovie Tutorial

• Open the iMovie App. • Click the question mark (?) in the upper left hand corner to learn more about the features within the app. If you leave this clicked, it will provided step by step instruction to create the iMovie. • In order to start a new project, click “Projects”. o Then tap the (+) to start a new project. o You will be creating a Movie or a Trailer

How to Create a Movie: • Swipe left and right at the bottom of the screen to browse the different themes you can choose from. You can preview each theme by pressing the play button above the theme options • Once you have selected the theme you will use for the project, you may press “Create” in the top right hand corner of the screen • The gear in the bottom right hand corner gives you options to change the theme, pick a filter, turn on theme , fade in and out, etc. • You may record your videos and take your photos before or during the creation of your iMovie. o If you do this prior, you can import the material you want featured directly into the movie. In the upper right hand corner you will see options to import video, photos, or audio from the device. Select the /photos by pressing on them in order to import them into the iMovie. o If you do not do this prior, you will press the camera or microphone in the bottom right hand corner of the screen in order to record video or record audio. • If you want to undo an action, tap the arrow on the right had side of the screen. To redo an action, tap and hold the same button and select “Redo Project Edit.” • Once you have the video or photos you want to include in the iMovie, you can click on it you will be given the options to cut, speed up and slow down, adjust the volume, add text, or change the filter of the selected clip.

How to Create a Trailer: • Swipe left and right at the bottom of the screen to browse the different themes you can choose from. IMPORTANT: YOU NEED TO CHOOSE A THEME THAT IS ATLEAST 1 MINUTE LONG. • Once you have selected the theme you will use for the project, you may press “Create” in the top right hand corner of the screen. • You will come to a screen that will prompt you to input information in the “Outline”. Record all of the appropriate information for your group here. • Clip the “Storyboard” tab under the “Outline” tab. This is where you will import your videos and pictures • On the left of the screen, you have the option tap on the text to edit. Tap the empty storyboards to add video or photos. o Pay attention to designated amount of seconds for video clips or photos. • You will use the right of the screen to take your videos/photos. Clip the video camera/digital camera depending on if you want to take a video or picture. • Tap the red/white circle on the far right to capture your video/photo. Recording will stop automatically depending on the length of the storyboard o If you have taken photos and videos prior to creating your trailer, tap the video or photo options at the bottom on the screen to import them into the movie. • Once you have the video or photos you want to include in the Trailer, you can tap on it you will be given the options preview, speed up and slow down, adjust the volume, add text, or undo of the selected clip.

How to export your video to the camera roll: 1. Once you have completed your movie or trailer, click the small arrow at the top of the screen. 2. You will be brought to a screen that shows the title of your movie, the duration, date modified information 3. Below this information, you will have three options to either play, upload, or delete your iMovie. You will want to pick the upload option in the middle, which looks like a square with an arrow coming out of the top. 4. Once you click that, click the save video option. 5. You will be prompted to choose an export size. Choose “MEDIUM”. 6. Wait for it to export before exiting the app. How to upload to Google Drive: 1. Download the app onto the iPad if it is not already. 2. Open the app. 3. Click sign in at the bottom left hand corner of the page. Sign in with the following JFS Library email and password: Email: [email protected] Password: uetigers 4. Click and open the folder named “6 th Grade Math iMovie Projects.” 5. Click the plus sign at the bottom right hand corner of the screen. Then, select “Upload”. 6. Select “Camera Roll”. 7. Select your iMovie that you have created with your group. It will upload immediately when you click the video. 8. Once it is upload, click on the video. Once it is opened, click the small “i” in the top right hand corner of the screen. 9. Select “rename”.
