The present work focuses on a local survey of free-living amoebae (FLA) that cause opportunistic and nonopportunistic infections in humans. Determining the prevalence of FLA in water sources can shine a light on the need to prevent FLA related illnesses. A total of 150 samples of tap water were collected from six districts of Sivas province. The samples were filtered and seeded on nonnutrient agar containing Escherichia coli spread. Thirty-three (22%) out of 150 samples were found to be positive for FLA. -

The Agency of ‘‘Triggering Mechanisms’’ as a Factor in the Organization of the Genocide Against the Armenians of Kayseri District Vahakn N. Dadrian Zoryan Institute Using the notion of a ‘‘triggering mechanism’’ as a guidepost, this article details the sequence of events precipitated by the accidental explosion of a bomb a young Armenian was tinkering with in anticipation of a new round of massacres he hoped to obviate. The ensuing massive and indiscriminate arrests throughout the length and breadth of the district, the attendant use of a variety of methods of torture, and the eventual eradication of the bulk of the district’s Armenian population through courts-martial, followed by serial executions through hanging, deportation, and massacre, are depicted and analyzed to demonstrate the exterminatory thrust of the ensemble of the counter-active governmental measures. -

Comments on habitats, substrata, and key anatomical features are provided for each species. Key words — Ascomycota, lichens, lichenized fungi, biodiversity Introduction Turkish lichenology has a relatively short history compared to Europe and America. In the last 30 years, however, numerous papers have been published, including checklists of several regions in Turkey (e.g., John 2007, Halıcı & Aksoy 2009, Kınalıoğlu 2010a, Şenkardeşler 2011, Yazıcı et al. 2013, Kocakaya et al. 2014). About 1300 species of lichenized fungi are known from Turkey, but unfortunately there is no checklist of the whole country. At least 2000 lichenized fungi are expected to occur in the country, considering its size, phytogeographical diversity, and different habitats (Halıcı et al. 2007). It is clear that the lichen biota is still far from being completely known in Turkey and that taxonomic studies focusing on genera or species complexes are needed. The genus Candelariella includes species with 8- or polyspored asci of the Lecanora-type, biatorine or lecanorine apothecia, and a secondary chemistry with pulvinic acid and derivatives (Westberg 2005). Approximately 50 Candelariella species are known worldwide (Westberg 2004), and in Turkey 15 species—C. -

For this purpose, blood samples were collected from 25 different sheep flocks (n = 379). According to the ELISA results, the numbers of CLA-positive and CLA-negative samples were 138 (36.4%) and 241 (63.6%), respectively. CLA positivity was observed in 35.7% of the females (n = 241), 37.7% of the males (n = 138), 40.2% of the sheep with clinical symptoms (n = 184), and 32.8% of the sheep with no clinical symptoms (n = 195) (P > 0.05). We concluded that C. pseudotuberculosis is a disease observed widely in the Kangal Akkaraman sheep breed in Turkey. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study reporting the seroprevalence of CLA in Kangal Akkaraman sheep, a breed whose first official herdbook was only recently established. -
Future Aquaculture Trends of Sivas in the Central Anatolia of Turkey

Sivas has quite a rich inland water potential in terms of aquaculture, but there is surprisingly no compiled information about planned future aquaculture developments of Sivas in the Central Anatolia of Turkey. Similarly, there are no forecasts indicating a development of aquaculture in Sivas over the next 10 years. This study describes the future aquaculture trends of Sivas in the Central Anatolia of Turkey. Current data of aquaculture production of Sivas Provincial Directorate of Food, Agriculture and Livestock of 2001-2014 were used for this purpose. Future of aquaculture production trends were analyzed. Over the past 14 years, aquaculture production increased from 319.50 tons in 2001 to 5554.50 tons in 2014. A trend model, fitted to the 2001–2014 aquaculture production, estimated 10554.25 tons for 2025 in Sivas. If the present trend continues, the aquaculture production of Sivas will double by 2025. Keywords: Aquaculture, Future, Trends, Sivas, Turkey. 1. INTRODUCTION Global aquaculture production has continued to grow in the new millennium, albeit more slowly than in the 1980s and 1990s. -

Sivas Ili Maden Ve Enerji Kaynaklari
