It was released on vinyl in , with a CD release in Apparently, the actual tape of the live recording was sped up to fit vinyl, but was not slowed down again for the CD release. It was the eighth release in the SYR series. It was released on July 28, The album was recorded on July 1, at the Roskilde Festival. The album title is in Danish and means "Other sides of Sonic Youth". For this album, the band sought to expand upon its trademark alternating guitar arrangements and the layered sound of their previous album Daydream Nation The band's songwriting on Goo is more topical than past works, exploring themes of female empowerment and pop culture. -

CRAFTS OF WORLD LITERATURE FACULTY OF ENGLISH, OXFORD 28-30 SEPTEMBER 2012 ABSTRACTS FOR PANEL SESSIONS 1. Short Story Shital Pravinchandra (Yale): ‘World Literature and the Short Story’ This paper engages with Moretti’s hypotheses about world literature in order to argue that the excessive attention he bestows upon the novel effectively reproduces the ‘one but unequal’ status of the world literary system. My claim is that an adequate theorization of world literature requires the literary critic to understand that unless we fail to take notice of the problem of literary genre the problem of world literature will only be further compounded. My paper turns to an entirely different genre — the short story — on the grounds that this is a necessary shift in focus that both takes into account the actual literary production of the global south and showcases the urgent need for literary critical attention to genre, both in postcolonial studies and in studies of world literature. Although the short story largely remains, to this day, as F. Odun Balogun puts it when discussing the case of the African short story, “a literature in search of critics” my paper looks at concrete instances of short story criticism and explores the shortcomings of the predominant models for understanding world literature, which rely heavily on the novel. The short story, I suggest, might offer a different yardstick with which to approach world literary production. Shital Pravinchandra is Assistant Professor of English at Yale University. She is currently working on a monograph entitled Same Difference: Literature and the Postcolony in the Age of Biotechnology, which explores the transformations that biotechnology has wrought on postcolonial studies. -

Sonic Youth was an American alternative rock band from New York City, formed in 1981. Their lineup largely consisted of Thurston Moore (guitar and vocals), Kim Gordon (bass guitar, vocals, and guitar), Lee Ranaldo (guitar and vocals), Steve Shelley (drums). In their early career, Sonic Youth was associated with the no wave art and music scene in New York City. However, there are only a few books, exploring her poetry from a wide range of literary and theoretical perspectives.2 The rest of the publications are short articles, which appeared mostly in literary magazines and newspapers.3 Indeed her biographical sketches and analyses of her poems, especially the recent ones, are very limited in number. Therefore the main objectives of this article are to introduce her biography and to analyse one of her recent poems relating to British history. This article will be divided into two sections. In the first part, Duffy’s upbringing, and family and educational backgrounds, and her careers as a poet, playwright, literary critic and an academic will be examined. -

Classic Poetry Series Adrian Henri - poems - Publication Date: 2012 Publisher: Poemhunter.com - The World's Poetry Archive Adrian Henri(10 April 1932 - 20 December 2000) Adrian Henri was a British poet and painter, best remembered as the founder of poetry-rock group The Liverpool Scene and as one of three poets in the best- selling anthology The Mersey Sound, along with <a href=" Adrian Henri's grandfather was a seaman from Mauritius who settled in Birkenhead, Cheshire, where Henri was born. In 1938, at the age of 6, Henri moved to Rhyl. Henri studied art at Newcastle and for a short time taught art at Preston Catholic College before going on later to lecture in art at both Manchester and Liverpool Colleges of Art. He was closely associated with other artists of the area and the era including the Pop artist Neville Weston and the conceptual artist Keith Arnatt. In 1972 he won a major prize for his painting in the John Moores competition. He was president of the Merseyside Arts Association and Liverpool Academy of the Arts in the 1970s and was an honorary professor of the city's John Moores University. He married twice, but had no children. His career spanned everything from artist and poet to teacher, rock-and-roll performer, playwright and librettist. He could name among his friends John Lennon, George Melly, <a href=" His numerous publications include The Mersey Sound, with McGough and Patten—a best-selling poetry anthology that brought all three of them to wider attention—Wish You Were Here and Not Fade Away. -

According to sheriff’s reports, Allison Low, 49, of Covelo, went into an uninhabited build- ing at 76201 Lovell Street to scavenge for items the previous tenants may have aban- doned. ICA Press release: 18 November 2014 First Happenings: Adrian Henri in the ‘60s and '70s 27 January – 15 March 2015 Fox Reading Room First Happenings: Adrian Henri in the ‘60s and '70s, in the Fox Reading Room, offers a focussed look at Adrian Henri’s pioneering role in the ‘happenings movement’ in Britain, setting up the first ‘Event’ in 1962, through to enabling various collaborative events into the 1970s. As a painter, poet, musician and performer he was a central protagonist during a period of intense creativity and collaborative artistic endeavours that centred in Liverpool – at the time a parallel centre for such activity alongside London and New York. Henri corresponded with performance artists including Allan Kaprow, Yoko Ono and Mark Boyle and authored a landmark publication, Total Art, Environments and Happenings *Thames and Hudson, 1974). Reflecting Henri’s eclecticism and insatiable curiosity, the display features numerous artefacts from the Adrian Henri estate, including original prints, collages, annotated scripts and hand-made posters for happenings, objects, ephemera, rock posters, counterculture documents and correspondence, as well as rare audio and video material. Adrian Henri (1932–2000) trained as a painter under Victor Pasmore and Richard Hamilton, and taught at Liverpool Art College in the 1960s. He came to prominence as one of the 'Liverpool poets', alongside Roger McGough and Brian Patten, through the best-selling Penguin anthology ‘The Mersey Sound’ - irreverently urban and popular. Performance was central to Henri’s practice, both as a visual artist and as a poet. In the 1960s and 70s he fronted the poetry and rock group Liverpool Scene (signed by RCA).
