I think this is largely due to being busy with fieldwork, which is a very good thing. The Executive Committee has been involved in several small issues since the spring including renewing our membership for The Archaeology Channel (see link in this newsletter), distributing some of the remaining Ancient Colorado publications, and setting up the Fall 2010 committee meeting. Probably the biggest news of the summer is that Susan Collins will be retiring from her position as State Archaeologist and deputy SHPO in October. I would like to personally thank Susan for all of her hard work during her tenure. The archaeology of Colorado has been served well by her efforts.

DOMENICO Solicitor General Counsel of Record MICHAEL F RANCISCO FREDERICK YARGER Assistant Solicitors General MEGAN PARIS RUNDLET Senior Assistant Attorney General Office of the Colorado Attorney General 1300 Broadway Denver, Colorado 80203 [email protected] 720-508-6559 Counsel for Petitioner Becker Gallagher · Cincinnati, OH · Washington, D.C. · 800.890.5001 i QUESTIONS PRESENTED In 1992, the People of Colorado enacted the Taxpayers’ Bill of Rights (TABOR), which amended the state constitution to allow voters to approve or reject any tax increases. In 2011, a group of plaintiffs, including a small minority of state legislators, brought a federal suit claiming that TABOR causes Colorado’s government to no longer be republican in form, an alleged violation of the Guarantee Clause, Article IV, Section 4 of the United States Constitution. The court of appeals held that the political question doctrine does not bar federal courts from resolving this kind of dispute and that the Legislator-Plaintiffs have standing to redress the alleged diminution of their legislative power. The questions presented are as follows: 1. Whether, after this Court’s decision in New York v. United States, 505 U.S. 144 (1992), Plaintiffs’ claims that Colorado’s government is not republican in form remain non-justiciable political questions.

  • 1969 Spring Television Quarterly
TELEVISION VOLUME VIII NUMBER 2 SPRING 1969 QUARTERLY THE JOURNAL OF THE NATIONAL ACADEMY OF TELEVISION ARTS AND SCIENCES Published by The National Academy ofTelevisionArtsandSciencesin cooperation with the School of Public Communication, Boston University THE ONE THING CLEARLY PREDICTABLE FOR 1969 Even in 1968, the most unpredictable of years, it wasa virtual certainty that NBC News would win a flock of important awards. That's just what happened. Programs and personnel of NBC News television and radio garnered many dozens of formal honors from universities, press associations, pub- lications, foundations and the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Such recognition is tremendously gratifying. We're confident it will help inspire the men and women of NBC News to continue their task with energy and dedication- right through 1969. But that's the only prediction we'll venture.
