Troy Cassar-Daley Troy’s latest album (Home) has been nominated for the ARIA 2012 Country Album of the Year. Announced in Sydney 3rd of October 2012. Troy is really proud to be in the final five with The McClymonts, McAlister Kemp, Beccy Cole and Catherine Britt…. winners will be announced on November 29th. IF you take the time to study Troy Cassar-Daley, a number of contradictions will surface, quicker than the flash of bass in the headwaters of his beloved Brisbane River in south-east Queensland. He’s the kid from Grafton in northern NSW who did it tough with his mum, Irene, after his parents separated when he was an infant. Yet he writes and sings more poignantly about family life than anyone in the business. He was shy and sensitive as a teenager. Yet today he can hold in thrall an audience of thousands. He’s been plying his trade for a lifetime (it began, according to family lore, with young Troy entertaining the dinner table with sets on a ukulele before securing a hand-me-down guitar aged 9) and has earned the right to be jaded. Yet he maintains an undiminished enthusiasm for his craft, and each album – you can sense it, feel it coming off the music – is a new adventure. RAW RAW has just spent this week travelling around schools in the North Burnett Region, Monogorilby, Boynewood, Mundubbera, Eidsvold, Abbercorn, Mulgildie, Monto, Dallarnil, Biggenden, Coalstoun Lakes, Binjour and Gayndah, finishing off the at the R.O.C Up Concert with their performance of Untapped. In the Mundubbera district Upper Palaeozoic sediments of the .southern portion of the Y arrol Basin are exposed in a broad syncline. The sequence has been divided into two Devonian and six Carboniferous formations. Considera tion of fossil zones and stratigraphic and structural relations infers that the Carboniferous rocks are of Tournaisian, Visean, and possibly Namurian age. Lithologic variation throughout the Carboniferous indicates a single strong vertical movement of the Gogango High at the end of Tournaisian time. Evidence is presented showing that this vertical movement of the high may be related to orogenic movements within the Yarrol Basin. Various lines of evidence suggest that the eastern margin of the basin is here marked by a thrust sheet of Lower Palaeozoic rocks.
