Wilson and Barbara Broccoli of EON Productions Ltd, Sony Pictures Entertainment and Metro-Goldwyn- Mayer Studios announced today the start of principal photography on the eagerly anticipated 22nd James Bond adventure. Daniel Craig reprises his role as 007 in the film which is directed by Marc Forster and follows the success of CASINO ROYALE, the latest and highest grossing film in the series. Starring alongside Craig is an impressive international cast led by the critically acclaimed French actor Mathieu Amalric as the sinister villain, and the Ukranian actress Olga Kurylenko who plays 007’s leading lady. Returning to Bond 22 (working title) from CASINO ROYALE are Judi Dench in her role as M, Jeffrey Wright as Felix Leiter and Giancarlo Giannini as Mathis. Newcomer to the Bond franchise, Gemma Arterton, will play the role of MI6 Agent Fields. Commenting on the announcement, Wilson and Broccoli said "We are fortunate to continue in the Bond tradition of attracting the finest international actors for our starring roles. Mathieu in the role of Dominic Greene, a leading member of the villainous organization introduced in CASINO ROYALE, will be a powerful counterpart to Daniel’s portrayal of Bond. In addition, it also announced an exciting digital campaign featuring the world’s first ever selfie from space, dubbed the ‘Spyfie’. Heineken®’s Spectre campaign is the brand’s largest global marketing platform of 2015. Spectre, the 24th James Bond adventure, from Albert R. Broccoli’s EON Productions, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, and Sony Pictures Entertainment, will be released in the UK on October 26 and in the US on November 6. The Heineken® TVC will be launched mobile-first via Facebook, and will be shown on TV and cinema screens worldwide 24 hours later. Miramax's Asian Experiment: Creating a Model for Crossover Hits Lisa Dombrowski , Wesleyan University, US Prior to 1996, no commercial Chinese-language film had scored a breakout hit in the United States since the end of the 1970s kung fu craze. In the intervening period, the dominant distribution model for Asian films in America involved showcasing subtitled, auteur-driven art cinema in a handful of theaters in New York and Los Angeles, then building to ever more screens in a platform fashion, targeting college towns and urban theaters near affluent, older audiences. With the American fan base for Hong Kong action films steadily growing through video and specialized exhibition during the 1980s, Miramax chieftain Harvey Weinstein recognized the opportunity to market more commercial Chinese-language films to a wider audience outside the art cinema model as a means of generating crossover hits. Beginning in 1995, Weinstein positioned Miramax to become the primary distributor of Hong Kong action films in the United States. Miramax's acquisition and distribution strategy for Hong Kong action films was grounded in a specific set of assumptions regarding how to appeal to mass-market American tastes. The company targeted action-oriented films featuring recognizable genre conventions and brand- name stars, considering such titles both favorites of hardcore Hong Kong film fans and accessible enough to attract new viewers. Rather than booking its Hong Kong theatrical acquisitions into art cinemas, Miramax favored wide releases to multiplexes accompanied by marketing campaigns designed to highlight the action and hide the "foreignness" of the films. Miramax initially adopted a strategy of dubbing, re-scoring, re-editing, and often re-titling its Hong Kong theatrical and video/DVD releases in order to make them more appealing to mainstream American audiences. -

MOVIE NIGHTS AT THE MARSHALL STUDENT CENTER WHAT DO I NEED? If you are planning to show a copyrighted film during your event, you will need a public performance license! The MSC Administration will need proof, such as a copy of the public performance license for the film in question, before the event. MSC Event and Meeting Services cannot arrange the license for you. WHEN DO I NEED THE LICENSE BY? You must turn in a copy of your license to your event planner no later than three (3) business days before your event. If we do not receive a valid license in time, you will have the chance to cancel your event or hold another activity. You may also chose to show a public domain film. You may not show a copyrighted film without a license. WHY DO I NEED A LICENSE? Per University policy, the Marshall Student Center requires a license for all copyrighted materials publicly distributed in the MSC. Also, if you are with a student organization and you want to use Student Government funding, the Student Business Services Shared Services Center will need proof of the public performance license before they can approve any expenses related to the showing, such as food or MSC event expenses. HOW DO I GET A LICENSE? Getting a public performance license for a film is relatively easy and usually requires no more than an email or phone call and payment of a fee. Fees are determined by factors such as: the number of times a particular movie is going to be shown, how large the audience will be, how recently the film was released, etc. -
