I have indexed them only for information concerning systematics, taxonomy, nomenclature, & description of taxa (as these are my areas of interest, and to have tried to index for areas such as physiology, behavior, ecology, neurophysiology, anatomy, etc. would have made the job too large and I would have given up long ago). This is a working list and as such may contain errors, but it should allow you to quickly find information concerning the description, taxonomy, or systematics of almost any species of nudibranch. The phylogenetic hierarchy used is based on Traite de Zoologie, with a few additions and changes (since this is intended to be an index, and not a definitive classification, I have not attempted to update the hierarchy to reflect recent changes). Nudibranchs are found in coral reef, tidal pools, seaweeds, sponges, etc. Nudibranch’s important role in marine food chains. Nudibranch is carnivorous, feeding on coral, sponge, tunicate, hydroid, bryozoan, anemone, etc. Many nudibranch [1] secretion of toxic, colour, chemical as a tool for defence . The nudibranch genus Dendrodoris was described by Ehrenberg (1831). Dendrodoris atromaculata has wide distribution in different parts of Indo-West Pacific Ocean [3] and Bay of Bengal [4]. -

BOUCHER2 ABSTRACT: The rich opisthobranch fauna of the Marshall Islands has re mained largely unstudied because of the geographic remoteness of these Pacific islands. We report on a long-term collection ofOpisthobranchia assembled from the atolls of Bikini, Enewetak, Kwajalein, Rongelap, and Ujelang . Fifty-seven new records for the Marshall Islands are recorded, raising to 103 the number of species reported from these islands. Aspects ofthe morphology, ecology, devel opment, and systematics of 76 of these species are discussed. THE OPISTHOBRANCH FAUNA OF THE Marshall viously named species are discussed, 57 of Islands, a group of 29 atolls and five single which are new records for the Marshall islands situated 3500 to 4400 km west south Islands (Table 1). west of Honolulu, Hawaii, is rich and varied but has not been reported on in any detail. The Systematics and Phylogeny of Phyllidiid Nudibranchs (Doridoidea)

ISBN 0 7310 0065 X The Systematics and Phylogeny of Phyllidiid Nudibranchs (Doridoidea) Zoology Department, University of Queensland, Qld 4000, Australia 'current addrecs: Australian National Parks & Wildlife Service, PO Box 636, Canberra, ACT 2601, Australia ABSTRACT.Investigations into the taxonomy, phylogeny, biogeography and ecology of nudibranchs belonging to the family Phyllidiidae Rafinesque are reported. All prior research on thc Phyllidiidae is reviewed. There were 74 nominal species as of January, 1992. The literature revealed enormous confusion in the taxonomy of phyllidiids caused primarily from inadequate anatomical study (or none at all) and descriptions of single preserved specimens. Intraspecific variation, particularly its ontogenetic component, is identified as an additional cause of misidentification. Traditional sources of nudibranch taxonomic characters, such as jaws and radula, are lacking in the Phyllidiidae. Characters used in this study are: general shape and body profile; colour and pattern; morphology of notal tubercles, ridges, and the mantle margin; rhinophoral colour; number of lamellae on each rhinophoral clavus; gills; morphology of foot and foot sole; oral tentacles; anatomy of the alimentary system; anatomy of the reproductive system; penial spine morphology; and sperm ultrastructure. Six genera are recognised and each is redescribed. Features which clearly demarcate the genera occur principally in the digestive system, and also in the reproductive system and external morphology. A key to genera is provided. A total of 49 valid, Indo-Pacific species is recognised; a full synonymy is given for each species. Phyllidia Cuvier remains the largest genus with 15 (including 8 new) species. Fryeria Gray is considered a valid genus with six (including 3 new) species. -

Nudibranchs out of Water: Long-Term Temporal Variations in the Abundance of Two Dendrodoris Species Under Emersion

Rosa1, Filipa Faleiro1, Gisela Dionísio1,2, Miguel Baptista1, Ana Couto1, Marta Pola3 and Rui Rosa1* Abstract The sudden appearance and disappearance of nudibranchs in intertidal areas have puzzled researchers all over the world, giving rise to a great diversity of theories to explain it. Here we conducted a fve-year survey to evaluate seasonal changes in the abundance of Dendrodoris herytra and D. grandifora in the Sado estuary (Portugal) and to explore a possible relationship with environmental factors such as temperature, salinity, turbidity and dissolved oxy- gen. Moreover, we report, for the frst time, the capacity of Dendrodoris nudibranchs to tolerate emersion (unhidden and completely exposed to sun exposure) during low tides. Our results showed that both species consistently started to appear emerged in March, reaching a peak abundance between April and May, and completely disappearing in July. In both species, this temporal trend was signifcantly associated with water temperature, turbidity, and dissolved oxygen, but not with salinity. We argue that the sudden appearance and disappearance of these nudibranchs in intertidal areas may result from a seasonal horizontal movement of adult nudibranchs from subtidal areas to mate in intertidal areas during spring, when phytoplankton production is enhanced and planktotrophic larvae may beneft from greater food availability. ABSTRACT. - This paper presents a compilation of 193 species of nudibranchs from 23 families that have been recorded to date from the South China Sea area. INTRODUCTION The purpose of this paper is to provide a checklist of the 193 species of nudibranchs that have been found in, and along the coasts of, the South China Sea. For the purposes of this paper the South China Sea is defined as being bounded by the equator, the straits ofTaiwan to the north, western Philippines and Borneo to the east, and Malaysia and Thailand to the west. The countries that have coastlines that are part of this area are hence China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, East and West Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei and the Philippines. The information gathered for this paper is collated from studies of the nudibranch fauna of the countries within the South China Sea region. Papers by authors such as Collingwood (1881), Risbec (1956), Lim & Chou (1970a, 1970c), Orr (1980), Lin (1981), Rudman & Darvell (1990) have also contributed to the following list of the species that occur in the region. Most ofthese studies often dealt with species ofnudibranchs that had also been found outside the designated area of the South China Sea.
