Your attendance here tonight demonstrates your commitment to both of these organizations and their contribution to the growth and vitality of our community. The 2011 Jazz on the Ridge promises to be a spectacular evening of fine wine, mouthwatering cuisine and stellar jazz performances. Each of you here tonight plays an instrumental role in making this gala a financial success through your generous and active participation in the live and silent auction. Our sincere thanks go out to the many donors and corporate sponsors for their support of the evening’s festivities. To the members of the organizing committee and all of the volunteers, thank you for working so hard to make this evening a great success. Without further adieu, have a wonderful evening and thank you, once again, for your continued support of Jazz on the Ridge – Wine, Dine & Jazz Gala. Norm Beal Chair Members of the Founders Club of Peninsula Ridge J.D. Pachereva, (Vice-Chair), Dean Allison, Ross McCallum, Mike Price, Gary Simms, Andrew Smith, Mike Williscraft, Kevin Yochim page 2 welcome letter YMCA jazz on the ridge Dear Friends: On behalf of the many volunteers, donors, members and staff of the YMCA of Niagara, I want to welcome all of the participants, sponsors and volunteers to the Jazz on the Ridge- Wine, Dine and Jazz Gala 2011. This year, as part of their fundraising efforts, the Founder’s Club of Peninsula Ridge is generously directing a portion of the funds raised at Jazz on the Ridge to the new Niagara West YMCA, a fully accessible community hub, open to everyone, providing health in spirit, mind and body to the community of west Niagara. Set to open in a few short months, this facility will serve close to 10,000 people in Lincoln, Grimsby and West Lincoln for generations to come. Thanks to you, tonight’s event will help support a new YMCA facility in west Niagara. Thanks to you, youth will find opportunities for growth and development in an environment that is safe, welcoming and value driven. Thanks to you, families will be more connected, and individuals will overcome feelings of isolation and gain a sense of belonging and acceptance. And thanks to you, there will be many more personal stories of achievement, optimism and hope. Though the building is going up quickly and opening soon, we still need your help. Norm Beal, the Chair of the Niagara West YMCA Capital Campaign and his team of tireless campaign volunteers have been working hard over the past year to reach out for community support. Together we can do more. We are grateful for the support from Federal, Provincial and Municipal governments along with charitable donations from individuals, businesses and foundations in Niagara. The response so far has been positive and with your continued support we will have the ability to provide a full range of programs and services for children and their families in this community regardless of ability, age, race, belief or financial situation. We hope you have a wonderful evening with family and friends and we thank you for being a part of this event. Together we are building strong kids, strong families and a stronger community. McNally House Hospice opened its doors in April 2008. This free-standing, six suite, home-like residence provides, free of charge, 24-hour specialized palliative care to people living with a terminal illness, as well as those in their life circle. The hospice is a non-profit organization serving the Niagara West communities of Grimsby, Lincoln and West Lincoln. McNally House is Ontario’s first rural teaching hospice. Along with the highly skilled professional staff, McNally has 120 volunteers who give of their time and talents each week to help the residents and their families deal with life’s greatest challenges. The doors of the hospice did not open on their own. They opened because of the generosity of our communities and the help of many hearts and hands. The Founder’s Club of Peninsula Ridge has been by our side since day one and we are blessed with their support. We have a beautiful library and a very important Arjo Tub with a special lift for our residents, all generously provided by the Founders Club. We appreciate your support this evening as we continue our journey in providing our special care at no cost to our residents. Again welcome to another wonderful evening, enjoy the music, wine and delectable food.
