Former SWOSU wide receiver Joel Blumenthal has received an opportunity to participate in a rookie minicamp with the Kansas City Chiefs on May 3-5 in Kansas City. His invitation was first reported on Twitter following the conclusion of the 2019 NFL Draft. Blumenthal played at SWOSU the past two seasons after starting his career at Butler Community College before transferring to FCS Northwestern State for two years. He was moved from quarterback to wide receiver for his senior season and caught a 46-yard pass on the Dawgs second offensive play of the season against Arkansas- Monticello. Blumenthal would finish the season with five receptions for 79 yards and two scores while also returning a blocked punt for a touchdown in the season finale against Northwestern Oklahoma State. "I've had a crazy college journey and not a lot of people have believed in me, whether that's been my coaches or peers," Blumenthal said following the draft. "But I've always believed in what I could do. God put this in my heart and I just put my head down and worked as hard as I could with faith and a vision.
