Computer Aided Drafting (CAD)

The CAD program consists of four 64-clock hour courses for a total of 256 hours. The courses focus on AutoCAD, Inventor, and Revit software programs. Studies include general CAD drafting skills in electrical schematic and wiring drawings, mechanical 2D and 3D object drawings and architectural design plan drawings. Drawing techniques, designed to develop speed and accuracy using state-of-the-art CAD software, are implemented across each course. Proper use of large format plotters is incorporated. The study of solid modeling to create 3D prints greatly enhance the learning experience. CAD is offered on the Wise County campus and the Main Weatherford College Campus. Night and weekend class times are available. Participants complete the program in less than one year taking classes 8-clock hours per week.

Courses include: • DFTG-1009 Basic Computer Aided Drafting (AutoCAD) • DFTG-1033 Mechanical Drafting (Inventor) • DFTG-2040 3D Solid Modeling and Design (Inventor) • DFTG-1017 Introduction to Architectural Drafting (Revit) Each course may be taken in any order. However, prior completion of DFTG-1033 or instructor approval is required to take DFTG-2040. Each course may be taken stand-alone. The tuition of each course is $595.00 (Program tuition total $2,380.00) and additionally the cost for the required text for each course.
