Our primary goal is to provide opportunities for learning & growth through the experience of recreation and leisure activities. The programs listed in this brochure are designed for persons with developmental and physical disabilities. All department programs are available to persons of all abilities. Policy of Non-Discrimination on the Basis of Disability: Thurston County Recreation Services does not discriminate on the basis of disability in the admission or access to, or treatment in, its programs and activities. Information concerning the provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the rights provided there under, are available from the ADA Coordinator. If you need accommodations for any program, please call the Recreation Office at (360) 867-2588. TDD number is (360) 754- 2933. Registration Details: Registration is accepted only by mail for the first 2 weeks. Registrations are processed through a randomized computer process. Payment is due upon receipt of your invoice. Your balance must be paid by the date shown on your invoice or you will be withdrawn from the activity. See inside for more details. TCRS is contracted to accept DDD Respite Funds and Family Support Funds. Refund Policy: Refunds of program fees will be issued only under the following conditions: A request must be received three (3) working days prior to the first day of the class or activity. Refunds will automatically be given for activities that the Department cancels. Sorry, refunds will not be granted for any activity that requires prepaid (P) reserved tickets. If you receive DDA funding: If you have registered for a program and decide that you will not be attending, it is your responsibility to notify the Recreation Office three (3) business days prior to the program. If you do not notify the office you will be responsible for 100% of the program cost even if you do not attend. Participant Care Needs: We strive to provide reasonable accommodations for all of our programs. However, there may be some trips that are not conducive for people who have limited mobility because of location or logistics. Please call in advance to see if the activity will work for you. Attendants: TCRS staff do not provide attendant care for toileting, toilet transfers, feeding and behavior management. If this type of assistance is needed during any program hours you must provide an attendant. Registration fees for attendants may apply and are listed in this brochure. Attendants who accompany participants to programs must register and remain with the participant for the duration of the program. Participant Profile: This form provides emergency information, health conditions, insurance and behavior information. A completed Profile must be on file before participation in any program. A new form must be completed every year or when information changes. Liability Release: An annual liability release must be on file prior to attending any programs. The release must be signed by someone legally authorized to sign documents. Photo Policy: You have the choice if you would like to be photographed and have your pictures published on TCRS documents. An annual form must be on file giving us this permission. Helping Others: Your tax deductible contribution will help to keep program fees low. Your gift of any amount is valuable to all in our community! Space is provided on the registration form for your gift amount. Transportation: Intercity Transit provides free travel training to anyone who is interested in learning to use bus route services. For free training or more information call (360) 705-5879. Medication: TCRS staff will not administer medication nor take possession of medication. Staff are also not able to prompt participants to take medicine. Head Injury and Concussion Acknowledgement: All youth 17 years & younger participating in a Thurston County sports training program must complete a signed Head Injury and Concussion Acknowledgement form to the Recreation Office.
