BEAST OF THE EAST Not enough can be said about the work that Sidney Crosby has done at both ends of the ice during this unusual 2020-21 campaign. The captain was dominant in March, picking up 21 points (7G-14A) in 15 games, helping the Penguins to a league-best 12-3-1 record. Crosby is up to 39 points on the year (14G-25A), which puts him 10th in league scoring, but first overall among all players in the East Division:

Crosby has excelled on the defensive side of the game as well. He has been plus or even in nine of his last 10 games and is plus-8 on the season. He’s also won 55.6% of all faceoffs, which includes a 60% win-rate in the defensive zone, a figure that ranks ninth in the NHL (min. 50 defensive zone faceoffs). Only St. Louis’ Ryan O’Reilly has won more faceoffs overall this season than Crosby.

MARCH MADNESS The Penguins finished the month of March in historic fashion. The team’s 12-3-1 record in March gave them an NHL-best (tied) 25 points over that span. It also marked the third-best calendar month of March in team history:
