  • Chocolate Wars Waged with Kittens and Brick Dust by KATE ROBERTSON Printed in the Toronto Star on December 20, 2010
An interesting article sent to you by Pervin Family Business Advisors Inc. Chocolate wars waged with kittens and brick dust BY KATE ROBERTSON Printed in The Toronto Star on December 20, 2010 Author Deborah Cadbury had always planned on writing the history of chocolate; after all, she is a descendant of the family that founded the largest and most successful chocolate company in the world. But it was what she calls the “cuddly Quaker bits,” that made her realize it was a tale worth telling. Two Quaker brothers, George and Richard Cadbury, took over their father John's failing chocolate company in the mid-19th century, when cocoa was only regarded as a cozy drink for chilly nights. Following their strict religious belief that “personal profiteering from business success was considered as shameful as debt,” they introduced the world's first chocolate bar and built the town of Bournville, now part of Birmingham, England around the Cadbury factory. Housing, swimming lessons and sickness benefits were all part of the enlightened social plan. For Cadbury, a historian based in England, the credit crunch of 2005, which saw banks in Britain and the U.S. collapse, brought home the fact that some of that progressive social idealism, albeit of a rather austere strain, was sadly lacking in the cutthroat world of capitalism and free markets. That's when she really decided to delve in. She had just finished researching the life of George Cadbury when Chicago-based Kraft Foods announced its hostile takeover bid for Cadbury. Suddenly, her project was very topical.

  • CONSTRUCTING a COLLECTIVE MEMORY of ALDO MORO in ITALIAN CINEMA Katherine Greenburg Gilliom a Dissertation
SEARCHING FOR TRUTH: CONSTRUCTING A COLLECTIVE MEMORY OF ALDO MORO IN ITALIAN CINEMA Katherine Greenburg Gilliom A dissertation submitted to the faculty of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the Department of Romance Studies Chapel Hill 2016 Approved by: Marisa Escolar Federico Luisetti Samuel Amago Ennio Rao Amy Chambless © 2016 Katherine Greenburg Gilliom ALL RIGHTS RESERVED ii ABSTRACT Katherine Greenburg Gilliom: Searching for Truth: Constructing a Collective Memory of Aldo Moro in Italian Cinema (Under the Direction of Marisa Escolar) This dissertation will address Aldo Moro’s presence in film and the changing manifestations of the politician in film throughout the years. I will argue that through film a comprehensive collective memory can be formed from examining what is known of the statesman, before and after his death, helping to ease the continuing sense of guilt felt by the Italian people in regards to his tragic end. In the first chapter of my dissertation I will discuss the concept of martyrdom in two films that depict Aldo Moro before his death; Elio Petri’s Todo Modo (1976) and Marco Tulio Giordana’s Romanzo di una strage (2012). Although two totally different films, historically and stylistically, both films portray a devoutly Catholic Moro and a rhetoric dealing with political martyrdom. In the second chapter of my dissertation I will address the conspiracy theories surrounding Aldo Moro’s death depicted in the films Il caso Moro (Ferrara 1986) and Piazza delle cinque lune (Martinelli 2003). Both films present their retellings of the Moro affair as revelations of the truth, focusing on the possible involvement of the Italian government, as well as the United States, in Moro’s death.

Nutritional evolution of chocolate bars. Journal of Knowledge Advancement & Integration (ISSN 1177-4576), 2011, pages 28-31.] Nutritional evolution of Fold chocolate bars Table of Contents Nutritional evolution of chocolate bars The nutritional composition of chocolate snack bars in International standards Methods New Zealand and Australia has remained unchanged Sample in the four years between 2007 and 2011, according Materials & analysis to a research done by Pérezgonzález (2011a2). That is, although individual chocolate bars may have changed slightly in nutritional composition, the average chocolate bar in 2007 and the average chocolate bar in 2011 are practically the same. Using a sample of 15 chocolate snack bars of the same brand and make for both periods, Pérezgonzález found no significant differences in either the nutritional composition of the snack bars or their overall nutritional balance (see Illustration 1). The average nutritional balance was BNI 124.05s in 2007 and BNI 123.53s in 2011, hardly any change at all. Results were also very similar for individual macronutrients, which showed that an average chocolate bar is extremely low in protein and fiber, and extremely high in sugars, fat and saturated fat; on the positive side, it is also extremely low in sodium (see profile in Illustration 2).

  • Student 5: Low Achieved
Student 5: Low Achieved PRODUCT The product I have chosen is the Moro bar. Moro is a chocolate bar that consists of nougat, biscuit and caramel filling with a chocolate covering. The function of the Moro bar is to provide a “delicious chocolate treat for consumers”. The unique selling point of Moro is that it has a layer of caramel filling which no other nougat chocolate bar has. Moro is at the maturity stage of the product life cycle because it is not a new product. It has been around and on sale for many years. The packaging of the New Zealand Moro bar has a black wrapper with Moro written in yellow. The slogan “get more go” appears on the wrapping. A competitor of the Moro bar is the Crunchie bar which is also made by Cadbury. PRICE The usual supermarket price of Moro is $1.20 for Price the 60g bar. It is currently on special for $1.00. Moro’s main pricing strategy is competitive $2.00 pricing. $1.00 Price The two other nougat bars are Mars which costs $1.99 for a 53g bar and Milky Way which costs $0.00 $1.99 for a 50g bar. These costs were at today’s Moro Mars Milky date on the Countdown Online website. Way PLACE Moro bars are distributed at dairies, supermarkets, garages and convenience stores. The bars are made in the factory in Australia (manufacturer), then sent to wholesalers, then sent to shops (retailers) where the customers buy the Moro bars from. A small chocolate manufacturer like Devonport Chocolates sells directly to consumers from their shop or their website.
