Every student in the Junior School sings in non-auditioned choirs, resulting in all 285 students performing at the Eisteddfod. Our choirs (known as Voiceworks or Tribe) achieved two first place trophies, two second place awards, a third place award and several highly commended awards.

As I write this newsletter item, we are moving through a busy period at the School. There have been a number of activities and opportunities for the boarders in recent times and it has been great to see so many boys participating positively.

Formal Dinners Each of the boarding houses enjoyed a Formal Dinner at the Parkhouse Café in Week 2 or Week 3 of this term. This is an annual event for the boarders and one which they all enjoy. There are two main aims of these dinners: 1. To expose the boys to a formal dining occasion where they can practise correct table manners and learn the etiquette involved. 2. To share a meal as a House community and to enjoy each other’s company. The boys enjoy the chance to dress up in their best clothes and they TOOWOOMBA look forward to a special meal. Last week at cadet home training we celebrated the Unit’s 125th Anniversary with a birthday cake. To provide a background to the Unit’s history I quote from John Winn’s book on the History of the Cadet Unit.
