Whereas, Jeff Sessions has honorably and ably served the people of the State of Alabama and the United States of America as U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Alabama (1981-1993), Attorney General of Alabama (1995-1997), and United States Senator (1997-2017); and

Whereas, President Donald J. Trump has publicly expressed reservations and displeasure about his decision to nominate and appoint Jeff Sessions as Attorney General for the United States and recently publicly criticized Jeff Sessions’ performance as Attorney General for the United States; and

Whereas, on July 19, 2017, quoted President Trump as stating that, “Sessions should have never recused himself, and if he was going to recuse himself, he should have told me before he took the job and I would have picked somebody else”; and

Whereas, on July 19, 2017, the New York Times quoted President Trump as stating that, “Jeff Sessions takes the job, gets into the job, recuses himself, which frankly I think is very unfair to the president. If he would have recused himself before the job, I would have said, ‘Thanks, Jeff, but I’m not going to take you”; and

Whereas, on July 24, 2017, President Trump again criticized and expressed displeasure with Jeff Sessions when President Trump tweeted that Jeff Sessions was “our beleaguered A.G.”; and

Whereas, on July 25, 2017, President Trump criticized and expressed displeasure with Jeff Sessions when President Trump tweeted that “Attorney General Jeff Sessions has taken a VERY weak position on Hillary Clinton crimes (where are & DNC server) & Intel leakers!”; and

I had 40,000 people. He was a senator from Alabama. I won the state by a lot, massive numbers. A lot of states I won by massive numbers. But he was a senator, he looks at 40,000 people and he probably says, ‘What do I have to lose?’ And he endorsed me. So it’s not like a great loyal thing about the endorsement. But I’m very disappointed in Jeff Sessions.”; and

Whereas, The restoration of Jeff Sessions to his position as United States Senator dramatically restores the power and prestige of the State of Alabama in the by placing a person with 20 years of seniority into the U.S. Senate, thereby dramatically improving the ability of Alabama’s junior senator to acquire important committee assignments and committee chairmanships otherwise denied the current Senate placeholder, who is last in Seniority (#100 out of 100 Senators) in the United States Senate; Now Therefore:

Be it resolved that the undersigned agree to the following (subject to the below terms and conditions):
