Held off the likes of Jason Day and Jordan Spieth to win his first professional tournament in his backyard. • Moved to Seattle after turning professional where he met girlfriend Jonika Melcher, whom he proposed to on April 21, 2019. Blue Hills was founded in 1912 and relocated to its current location in 1963 with the help of course designer Robert Dunning. The course has hosted numerous state, USGA and U.S. Open local and sectional qualifiers. Most notably, Blue Hills hosted Tom Watson’s Children’s Mercy Hospital Golf Classic for 25 years. Along with Watson, a local resident, some of the game’s greatest legends competed at Blue Hills including Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Gary Player and Lee Trevino. The event raised more than $12 million over the years for the hospital and is considered to be one of the largest grossing charity events of its kind. Watson, an honorary member at Blue Hills, retired the event in 2005. Local Players Chase Hanna, Harry Higgs and Joseph Winslow will represent the local contingent of golfers, each hailing from the greater-Kansas City area. -
