Well covered with thick, silky hair, very fine in texture, the Afghan hound's coat is a sort found among animals native to high altitudes. They can come in all colors, and while the breed is an excellent hound (hunting by sight) its popularity here has been generated by the breeds' spectacular qualities as a show dog. 10 AFGHAN HOUND Best of Breed Winners Saturday Sunday 11 AFGHAN HOUND Judges SAT: Bob Marciszewski SUN: Jim Dumais Ping Pirrung Leigh Littleton OPEN STAKE Zahdi FCh Rzgimes The Princess Shahrazao DOB: 06/05/2010 REG#: HP38740102 OWNERS: Philip Krauthoff & Judith Traver Placement: Saturday 1st / BOB Sunday: Not Entered FIELD CHAMPION STAKE Millie Eversong’s Thoroughly Modern Millie DOB: 09/05/2009 REG#: HP35193101 OWNERS: Robert D. & Linda Jordan Placement: Saturday 2nd Sunday: 2nd Sansa Kominek’s Lady of The Court DOB: 06/10/2011 REG#: HP40919305 OWNERS: Robert Jordan, Linda Jordan & Selma Kominek Placement: Saturday 1st Sunday: 1st / BOB 12 AFGHAN HOUND KENNEL STAKE Millie & Sansa Saturday √ Sunday BREEDER STAKE No Entry BENCH STAKE No Entry 13 BASENJI The Basenji is a small, short haired hunting dog from Africa. It is short backed and lightly built, appearing high on the leg compared to its length. The wrinkled head is proudly carried on a well arched neck and the tail is set high and curled. Elegant and graceful, the whole demeanor is one of poise and inquiring alertness. The balanced structure and the smooth musculature enables it to move with ease and agility. The Basenji hunts by both sight and scent. 14 BASENJI Best of Breed Winners Saturday Sunday 15 BASENJI Judges SAT: Bob Marciszewski SUN: Jim Dumais Ping Pirrung Leigh Littleton FIELD CHAMPION STAKE Searsha GCh DC N’Focus Santa Baby, MC, LCX, GRC, JOR, LCM IV, CGC, VB DOB: 12/25/2008 REG#: HP32685004 OWNERS: Kathy Sanders Placement: Saturday Pulled Sunday: 1st / BOB Aqune FCh Thor’s Song for a Winter’s Night, LCM, SC DOB: 12/24/2011 REG#: HP42091903 OWNERS: Judy Brader Placement: Saturday 1st / BOB Sunday: 4th Merlin FCh Thor’s Kikosi, SC, LCM IV DOB: 08/31/2008 REG#: HP32016702 OWNERS: Judy Brader Placement: Saturday 2nd Sunday: 3rd 16 BASENJI – Continued FIELD CHAMPION STAKE (Continued) Winter FCh New World Baridi Ngano, SC, LCM II DOB: 12/24/2010 REG#: HP39397404 OWNERS: Judy Brader Placement: Saturday 3rd Sunday: 2nd ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ KENNEL STAKE No Entry BREEDER STAKE No Entry BENCH STAKE Searsha Saturday Sunday √ 17 BORZOI The Borzoi was originally bred for the coursing of wild game on more or less open terrain, relying on sight rather than scent. To accomplish this purpose, the Borzoi needed particular structural qualities to chase, catch and hold its quarry. Special emphasis is placed on sound running gear, strong neck and jaws, courage and agility, combined with proper condition. The Borzoi should always possess unmistakable elegance, with flowing lines, graceful in motion or repose. Males, masculine without coarseness; bitches, feminine and refined. 18 BORZOI Best of Breed Winners Saturday Sunday 19 BORZOI Judges SAT: Bob Marciszewski SUN: Don Ewing Ping Pirrung Dean Wright FIELD CHAMPION STAKE Alibi Bon Ami Perfect Alibi Howff Carbrael, FCh DOB: 07/20/2010 REG#: HP38429505 OWNERS: Leigh & Vicki Littleton Placement: Saturday Not Entered Sunday: 1st / BOB Cinquedea Avalon Oxota Cinquedea, FCh, ORC DOB: 05/20/2011 REG#: HP40594901 OWNERS: Leigh & Vicki Littleton Placement: Saturday Not Entered Sunday: 2nd VETERAN STAKE Doll Timeless RagDoll at Collisto SC, MC, FCh, VFCh DOB: 05/25/2005 REG#: HP15713305 OWNERS: Joan Cole and Charles Cole Placement: Saturday 1st / BOB Sunday: Not Entered 20 BORZOI – Continued VETERAN STAKE (Continued) Kula Silkenswift’s Cosmic Kula DOB: 08/25/2006 REG#: HP24838405 OWNERS: Francis Byrne Placement: Saturday 2nd Sunday: Not Entered ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ KENNEL STAKE No Entry BREEDER STAKE No Entry BENCH STAKE No Entry 21 ITALIAN GREYHOUND The Italian Greyhound is a breed that was generally connected to people of wealth. But this does not preclude that they were used to hunt and kill small ground-dwelling animals. Many times they may vocalize before and during a run. An athletic IG has a head down, flat out, double suspension gallop. The IG’s best attribute is follow. This may come from the fact that they are so small. They were possibly used for hunting very small game or as ratters. Although some say they were bred just to be companions. With their small size comes agility. IGs should have excellent cornering abilities. 22 ITALIAN GREYHOUND Best of Breed Winners Saturday Sunday NO PHOTO TAKEN 23 ITALIAN GREYHOUND Judges SAT: Bob Marciszewski SUN: Jim Dumais
