The only regular season loss came at the hands of eventual tournament winner, Utah Valley. The Huskies lost in the first round of the tournament by Howard, 2-1. HBU was well-represented at the post-season awards dinner, as seven Huskies were named All-Conference, including five First Team honorees. The Huskies lost in double-overtime to Utah Valley. Sophomore Molly Missimer had a breakout season, leading the team with 22 points, which was the eighth-most in a single-season in program history, and the most points in one season since 2008. Five Huskies were placed on the GWC All- Conference teams, with Arielle Rodriguez, M. Missimer, Lindsay Matlock, and Natalie Hager placing on the First Team, and Kelsey Missimer placing on the Second Team. The Huskies advanced to the GWC title match, where they lost to Utah Valley, 1-0. In 2008, Jones led the Huskies to a 9-7-1 mark in year two of the school’s transition back to NCAA Division I. The campaign was highlighted by four shutouts and a 5-2 record at Sorrels Field. The 2007 squad finished 11-5-3, including an impressive 10-1 mark at home. In 2006, she led the Huskies to a successful 11-6 campaign in the first season of HBU women’s soccer since 1987, coaching an all-America selection in Sara Faulkner and having five athletes receive all- conference honors. The Huskies finished that inaugural season as the fourth-place team in the Red River Athletic Conference and managed to stun their conference foes by finishing as the RRAC tournament runner-up, defeating top-seeded College of the Southwest 1-0 in the semifinals. History

52 2013 HBU Women’s Soccer 2012 Season in Review

HBU had another stellar season, going 10-7-3 overall and 4-1-0 in its final season in the Great West Conference. The Huskies’ lone conference setback was a 2-0 home loss to eventual GWC regular season and conference champion, Utah Valley. The Huskies were looking for revenge against the Wolverines in the conference tournament, but the second-seeded Huskies suffered a shocking 2-1 loss to sixth-seed Howard in the semifinals to end their season. The Huskies had a fantastic season, though, as Blake Martin was named Great West Conference Newcomer of the Year and seven players were named All- Conference. Joining Martin on the First Team was senior Arielle Rodriguez, junior Molly Missimer, and sophomores Taylor Gibson and Natalie Hager. Senior Cindy Hedden and junior Shelby Horn earned Second Team accolades. Hager led HBU with eight goals and 19 points. The 19 points were the most in a single season since Isla Cameron notched 20 points in 2009. Hager’s five game- winning goals tied the program record, set by Alicia Noah in 2006. Gibson scored seven goals and finished with 17 points. Rodriguez led all players with five assists, as her three goals gave her 11 points. Horn dominated between the pipes for HBU, going 10-6-2 with a 1.03 goals-against average and a .808 save percentage. She was a five-time GWC Defensive Player of the Week honoree. Her seven shutouts set a new program record in a single season, while her 1.03 GAA is third-best and her .808 save percentage is tied for fourth-highest. Horn is now the program leader with 12 career shutouts. In the classroom, the Huskies maintained their high expectations. The Huskies were honored by the National Soccer Coaches’ Association of America (NSCAA) for the third-consecutive year, being one of 504 schools from all divisions honored for academics. The Huskies had a cumulative 3.01 GPA. Four Huskies were named to the Great West Fall Academic All-Conference Team: Gibson, Hager, Horn, and Kelsey Reichow. The honor was Horn’s second and Reichow’s third, as Reichow earned a spot on the Academic All-Conference Team every year she was eligible.

Blake Martin receives the Great West Conference Newcomer of the Year Award from Commissioner Ed Grom
