The Weeknd Kiss Land Full Album Download Google Drive First Listen: the Weeknd, 'Kiss Land' the Weeknd's New Album Kiss Land Will Be Released on Sept the weeknd kiss land full album download google drive First Listen: The Weeknd, 'Kiss Land' The Weeknd's new album Kiss Land will be released on Sept. 10. La Mar C. Taylor/Courtesy of the artist. After his first songs appeared on the Internet in late 2010, The Weeknd's Abel Tesfaye slowly crept under the sheets between Drake's brokenhearted bravado and the confessional cynicism of Frank Ocean with a series of free mixtapes of increasingly dark, brooding pop. He was the hermit gone wild, a lonely boy from Toronto with Michael Jackson's fragile tenor and a hard drive full of Portishead B-sides who suddenly had his pick of worldly women, but quickly became disillusioned by the paradox of choice. Tesfaye's new album, Kiss Land , is a glass-clad monolith to his jaded misogynist fantasies and melodramatic jet-setting, fascinating for both its futurist sonic template and its emotionally stunted hypersexuality. From the album's first line ("It's ideal, you need someone to tell you how to feel") to its last ("She forgot the good things about me / She let it slip away"), an overwhelming sense of hopelessness and dissociation sets in. Tesfaye's delicate voice, often breaking into a desperate whimper, constantly echoes off towering synthetic minor chords and spare, hydraulic drum patterns. He is truly lost in the machine. More than any of his contemporaries, Tesfaye personifies the anxiety, narcissism and ironic disconnect of the digital generation. His version of modern love is no fun; it's one built around blame, numbing overindulgence and cold sexual transaction. It's telling when the marquee Drake guest spot halfway through the album feels jarring and disruptive for its champagne-toasting banality. There is very little nostalgia or perspective here, just a claustrophobic sense of someone bewildered by access. Every song explores this theme, the lyrics reading like a series of unrequited sexts, and Tesfaye delivers them with such tension — and surrounds them with such heartless machinery — that the listener can't help but feel a little trapped in his matrix. It is an uneasy feeling, but also genuinely provocative. Everyone is listening; no one is paying attention. With Kiss Land , Tesfaye has created a compelling case for the artistic relevance of current pop music. Compared to the ruling kings and queens of pop — Drake, Ocean, Gaga, Rihanna, Timberlake, Perry, Cyrus, et al — Tesfaye is a downright misanthrope. He is not asking the 14-year- olds who follow him on Twitter to twerk or roar or be like him. He's not even acknowledging them. Kiss Land is his manifesto against seeking fame and living your dreams. Whether the somewhat contemptible character speaking in these songs is Tesfaye or a figment of his imagination, it's at least poignant, and it's not easy listening. Kiss Land. Abel Tesfaye specializes in spacey R&B songs where he sounds sad about things that would make most people happy (having sex, going to parties, hanging with friends). So you can imagine how bummed Tesfaye is now that he tours the world and has a major-label contract. Kiss Land follows in the lethargic steps of 2012’s Trilogy , but the pace is slower, songwriting thinner and vision more bloodshot. Tesfaye floats through songs like a child in the most luxurious bubble money can buy. “This the shit that I live for,” he claims, riding around in a car, going through mild withdrawals. Only a Drake cameo can cheer him up – barely. Anyone have that google drive full of Unreleased Music? It got removed from the sidebar due to copyright. The weeknd kiss land full album download google drive. It’s been exactly 6 months since we reviewed The Weeknd ‘s career sales and achievements. His latest effort After Hours is the most streamed English-language album of the year with an insane 3 billion streams on Spotify alone. Today, we will find out just how much has changed since the release of the R&B superstar’s fourth studio album. Get to know The Weeknd. The Weeknd, real name Abel Makkonen Tesfaye , is a Canadian singer born in Toronto in February 16, 1990. His parents came from Ethiopia before his birth. Often listed under Hip Hop columns, the Weeknd is prominently a singer of R&B. His innovative sound and dark themes have been critically acclaimed since his 2011 debut mixtape House of Balloons . He often mentioned Michael Jackson and Prince as his main sources of inspiration, with songs like I Feel It Coming having real vibes of the former. While his first cross-over hits came in this period, the singer has been busy releasing material since early 2011. That year, he issued 3 mixtapes. They were self-released and available for free on his website. Combined, the 3 albums are believed to have been downloaded over 8 million times, building a lot of hype for the artist online. He was quickly noticed by his mentor Drake and later signed by Republic Records. The label packaged the mixtapes together under the compilation Trilogy . The 160-minutes, $20+ release shocked the industry by selling 86,000 copies in its first week in the US alone. Some 20 years ago, when divas were everywhere, Canadians were dominating the music industry with the likes of Celine Dion, Shania Twain and Alanis Morissette . Nowadays, streaming beasts are the real deal. The type of acts and the way music is consumed changed, but Canadians are still doing it best. If Justin Bieber and Drake are the two flagships of the country, The Weeknd has very little reasons to be envious of them. #1 in the US, the UK, Australia, France and Germany, among others, Blinding Lights is one of many hits for the artist. Up to 5 chart toppers in the US as well as 73 Hot 100 charted songs, the new generation icon is no one hit wonder either. How does he compete against the biggest artists of our era though? And against his elders? As usual, I’ll be using the Commensurate Sales to Popularity Concept in order to relevantly gauge his results. This concept will not only bring you sales information for all Weeknd ‘s albums, physical and download singles, as well as audio and video streaming, but it will also determine their true popularity. If you are not yet familiar with the CSPC method, the next page explains it with a short video. I fully recommend watching the video before getting into the sales figures. Of course, if you are a regular visitor feel free to skip the video and get into the figures. The Commensurate Sales to Popularity Concept (CSPC) There are two ways to understand this revolutionary concept. The first is the Scribe video posted below. If you are unaware of the CSPC method, you will get the full idea within just a few minutes. Now let’s get into the artist’s sales figures in detail in order to apply this concept and define the act’s true popularity! The Weeknd Albums Sales. Original Album Sales – Comments. As previously stated, he debuted with 3 mixtapes, House of Balloons, Thursday and Echoes of Silence . These albums sold effectively no copy back then since they were given away digitally. In 2015 though, they were released in physical formats at last, enjoying decent catalog sales ever since then, sales which are listed on the second table. In-between, Trilogy , which packages them, was released. It sold just over a million units. Once we consider the price of the album, its length, that millions of people got its content for free, and that it was made of 1.5 years old mixtape songs, its sales are amazing. As this album is effectively a box set of the previous ones, its sales will be assigned to each of the individual efforts. Kiss Land , technically his debut album and described by the artist as a “horror movie”-like album, failed to appeal the masses, selling half a million copies. Beauty Behind the Madness was his consecration. The LP sold over 2.2 million in spite of a difficult context for pure sales, and a strong impact in streaming. The same applies to the 1.3 million seller Starboy . My Dear Melancholy is listed as well and seems very low at 240,000 copies, even for 2018 standards. As an EP though, it was short lived with only 1 single, naturally not doing as well as its predecessors. After Hours stands at 610,000 units so far, a great figures nowadays. To put things into perspective, this would have put it inside the Top 20 Global Album chart in 2019. All in all, the Weeknd has sold over 6.2 million albums, which is a respectable figure for an act that broke into mainstream as late as in 2014, when streaming was starting to take over.

  • An Approach to the Pedagogy of Beginning Music Composition: Teaching Understanding and Realization of the First Steps in Composing Music
AN APPROACH TO THE PEDAGOGY OF BEGINNING MUSIC COMPOSITION: TEACHING UNDERSTANDING AND REALIZATION OF THE FIRST STEPS IN COMPOSING MUSIC DOCUMENT Presented in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree Doctor of Musical Arts in the Graduate School of The Ohio State University By Vera D. Stanojevic, Graduate Diploma, Tchaikovsky Conservatory ***** The Ohio State University 2004 Dissertation Committee: Approved By Professor Donald Harris, Adviser __________________________ Professor Patricia Flowers Adviser Professor Edward Adelson School of Music Copyright by Vera D. Stanojevic 2004 ABSTRACT Conducting a first course in music composition in a classroom setting is one of the most difficult tasks a composer/teacher faces. Such a course is much more effective when the basic elements of compositional technique are shown, as much as possible, to be universally applicable, regardless of style. When students begin to see these topics in a broader perspective and understand the roots, dynamic behaviors, and the general nature of the different elements and functions in music, they begin to treat them as open models for individual interpretation, and become much more free in dealing with them expressively. This document is not designed as a textbook, but rather as a resource for the teacher of a beginning college undergraduate course in composition. The Introduction offers some perspectives on teaching composition in the contemporary musical setting influenced by fast access to information, popular culture, and globalization. In terms of breadth, the text reflects the author’s general methodology in leading students from basic exercises in which they learn to think compositionally, to the writing of a first composition for solo instrument.

  • Download Weeknd Album My Dear Melancholy
download weeknd album my dear melancholy My Dear Melancholy, Coming off multi-platinum, Grammy-winning success with Starboy and apt placement on the Black Panther soundtrack, Abel Tesfaye shirks candy-coated summertime jams for aggrieved ballads with this six-track EP, issued with little advance notice. Considering its unswerving focus on romantic anguish and self-medication, and a listener's natural inclination to associate the pronouns with Tesfaye's famous exes, the EP might seem extreme, but it retraces familiar shapes in condensed form. Most obviously, "Call Out My Name" resembles "Earned It" with synthesized menace in place of strings and a dash of the distorted terror previously heard on "The Hills." In one verse directed at the object of his unrequited affection, Tesfaye confesses that he wasn't truthful when he said he "didn't feel nothing," then lashes out for being taken at his initial word and treated in kind, "just another pit stop." In that regard, the level of emotional maturity hasn't changed much since the mixtapes. Apart from the sly and sweet 2-step rhythm on "Wasted Times," the sound of the EP is bleary R&B with beats that drag and lurch, suited for Tesfaye's routine swings between self-pity and sexual vanity, chemically enhanced from one extreme to the other. For all his rehashed scenes, Tesfaye can be one of the most affecting vocalists in contemporary pop. When he sings "I got two red pills to take the blues away" in "Privilege," he might as well be slouched in the driver's seat of one of his luxury sports cars, staring into his open palm like he's holding all that he truly values.

The Art of the Hustle: A Study of the Rap Music Industry in Bogota, Colombia by Laura L. Bunting-Hudson Submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy under the Executive Committee of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY 2017 © 2017 Laura L. Bunting-Hudson All Rights Reserved ABSTRACT The Art of the Hustle: A Study of the Rap Music Industry in Bogota, Colombia Laura L. Bunting-Hudson How do rap artists in Bogota, Colombia come together to make music? What is the process they take to commodify their culture? Why are some rappers able to become socially mobile in this process, while others are less so? What is technology’s role in all of this? This ethnography explores those questions, as it carefully documents the strategies utilized by various rap groups in Bogota, Colombia to create social mobility, commoditize products and to create a different vision of modernity within the hip-hop community, as an alternative to the ideals set forth by mainstream Colombian society. Resistance Art Poetry (RAP), is said to have originated in the United States but has become a form of international music. In conducting ethnographic research from December of 2012 to October 2014, I was able to discover how rappers organize themselves politically, how they commoditize their products and distribute them to create various types of social mobilities. In this dissertation, I constructed models to typologize rap groups in Bogota, Colombia, which I call polities of rappers to discuss how these groups come together, take shape, make plans and execute them to reach their business goals.
