GRANDFATHER CLOCK

INSTRUCTIONS

Congratulations! You are now the proud owner of a fine timepiece. It has been carefully designed and crafted to give you years of dependable operation. Read this booklet thoroughly before assembling and operating your clock in order to become familiar with its many features and assure proper performance. Keep these instructions in a safe place for future reference. ATTENTION In order to ensure that your clock is stable, adjust the levelers at the bottom of the clock. As an added safety feature, a support strap has been provided that is fixed to the top of the clock and must be attached to the wall. It is recommended that you do so. HOW TO ASSEMBLE YOUR CLOCK CABINET

1. Carefully unpack all parts and compare each item to the following list to be sure you have everything required.

2. Place the BASE UNIT near its final position but leave it away from the wall until the assembly is finished.

Fit the SIDE PANEL without hinges into the grooves in the base unit on the left side of the clock and attach it from the inside with two of the SCREWS and the FLAT WASHERS (Figure A) using a Phillips head screwdriver. Repeat the process using the side panel with the hinges on the right side of the clock. 4. Fit the BACK PANEL into the grooves in the side panels at the back of the cabinet and the bottom unit (Figure B).

2 5. Slip the pre-hinged front door into place by lowering it over the matching hinge on the right side panel (Figure C). Take your time lining up both parts slowly and it will drop into position. Insert hinge pins into hinges. 6. Carefully fit the TOP UNIT down onto the side panels. Be sure to keep the side panels straight while working (Figure D). Attach the top unit with the four remaining screws and washers in the same manner as the side panels. NOTE: At this point the cabinet is assembled.

7. How to hook the weights: Hook the WEIGHTS on the end of the CHAINS located on the bottom inside edge of the top unit. 8. The clock can be aligned and made vertical through adjusting the four feet at the bottom.

3 SETTING UP YOUR CLOCK

1: Carefully remove all packing materials ,tapes, rubber bands, Paper ,etc .From the clock mechanism inside of the TOP UNIT.

2. Hold the pendulum with the bright side of the PENDULUM BOB facing the front of the clock and hang the PENDULUM onto the PENDULUM.

CAUTION: The PENDULUM HANGER is suspended from a delicate spring . Do not pull or twist the hanger while hanging the pendulum. Your clock will not run properly and might even stop if the hanger suspension spring is damaged. NOTE: Always remove the pendulum when storing or moving the clock from one place to another and secure the PENDULUM HANGER which a strip of tape so it does not move from side to side.

Your clock has been partially wound at the factory. To make sure it is fully wound ,insert the WINDING KEY in to the keyholes and turn in a clockwise direction . The clock is fully wound when you reach a solid stop while turning the key. WIND AS NECESSARY, DO NOT OVER-WIND

SETTING THE TIME

To set your clock, turn the long {minute } hand only. The hand may turned clockwise or counterclockwise. If you accidentally move the hour hand when setting the clock .Let the clock strike the hour, then carefully turn the hour hand till it points to the hour .Please note that after setting the correct time, the clock may not strike the correct hour the first time . This is normal and the clock will correct itself within the next hour of running.

Start the clock running by moving the pendulum to either extreme left or right position and then release .Listen to the sound of the tick-tock {the beat }. The sound should be even and rhythmic.

4 5 ADJUSTMENTS

All mechanical clocks require regulation to make them run accurately . Temperature, humidity changes, minor imperfections.in gearing variations in spring torque all affect accuracy .It may take several days to get your clock regulated to the degree of accuracy you desire . DO NOT GET DISCOURAGED, Your clock has been regulated at the factory to be within plus or minutes per day.

Do not make any adjustments the first 24 hours .If you have to make an adjustment ,hold the pendulum rod firmly so it does not twist and turn the regulating nut under the pendulum bob to the right to raise the bob and make your clock run faster or to the left to lower the bob and make your clock run slower. One full turn of the adjusting nut sill change the time approximately one minute. When lowering the adjusting nut gently push down on to the bob to make sure it stays against the nut. Walt 24 hours between each adjustment. Once you reach a point where a slight adjustment changes the time from fast to slow or vice versa ,you have reached the maximum accuracy for your time keeping will very slightly as the spring runs down ,you can increase the accuracy of your clock by winding the clock fully every 2 weeks.

CARE AND CLEANING OF YOUR CLOCK

Clean the glass on your clock periodically as required using a good quality glass cleaner .Spray the cleaner on a soft cloth and wipe the glass .Never spray directly on the glass or click case. Wax and polish the wood portion of clock case as frequently as you do your other fine furniture . Any good furniture polish will do. Your clock movement should be oiled once a year and cleaned every five to ten years depending on climatic conditions. We do not recommend attempting cleaning or olling the movement yourself . Instead, contact a reputable jeweler or clock repair / servicemen.

7 TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE HERE ARE SOME USUAL SYMPOMS THAT ARE ASSOCIATED WITH INCORRECT SET UP AND ARE NOT FAULTS OF THE CLOCK

PROBLEM: YOUR CLOCK IS QUIET SOLUTION: 1.CHECK YOUR CLOCK HAS NOT BEEN WINDED. 2.CHECK PROTECTING GONG CARDBOARD HAS NOT BEEN TAKEN OUT.

PROBLEM:YOUR CLOCK PENDULUM WILL NOT SWING SOLUTION:1.CHECK YOUR CLOCK HAS NOT BEEN SITTING ON A PLAIN GROUND. 2.CHECK YOUR CLOCK HAS NOT BEEN WINDED. 3.SOMETIMES, ENOUGH FULL WINDING ALSO MAKING NOT SWING , PLEASE TAKE OFF THE PENDULUM, AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES, PUT THE PENDULUM ON.

PROBLEM: YOUR CLOCK GOES FASTER SOLUTION:THERE IS A SCREW ON THE BOTTOM OF THE PENDULUM BOB,SCREW THE BOB A LITTLE DOWN. REMEMBER: ONE CIRCLE OF SCREW IS SLOWER 30 SECONDS.

PROBLEM: YOUR CLOCK GOES SLOWER SOLUTION: THERE IS A SCREW ON THE BOTTOM OF THE PENDULUM BOB. SCREW THE BOB A LITTL UP . REMEMBER: ONE CIRCLE OF SCREW IS FASTER 30 SECONDS.

PROBLEM: YOUR CLOCK CHIMES IS NOT CORRECT SOLUTION: FINGER MAKES THE HOUR HAND TO THE CORRECT CHIME, THEN TRY.

PROBLEM: IF YOUR CLOCK CHIMES EXCEEDING +15 MINUTES (-15MINUTES) SOLUTION: TAKE OUT THE MINUTE HAND AND ASSEMBLING THE MINUTE HANDS AGAIN.

8 ATTENTION: In order to ensure that your clock is stable, adjust the levelers under the clock. As an added safety feature, a support strap has been provided and is fixed to the top of the clock. It recommended that you attach the clock to the wall using this strap as shown below. Take note of the wall mounting guide on the following pages.
