This includes the urban, suburban, and rural areas of greater Kent, Ottawa and Allegan counties. The range in socio-economic background is extensive. Thirty-nine percent of students receive need-based tuition assistance totaling over $1,000,000 given in aid for the 2019- 2020 school year. Seventeen percent of students qualify for free/reduced lunch. SCHOOL: Oldest co-educational diocesan Catholic high school in the nation, founded in 1906. College preparatory – historic average of 96% enroll in higher education upon graduation. 99% graduation rate. ACCREDITATION: AdvancEd MEMBERSHIPS: The National Catholic Educational Association and the National Association of College Admission Counselors ENROLLMENT 2019-20: 609 students, grades 9-12 CEEB-ACT CODE: 231-685 SCHOOL YEAR: Two semesters of 18 weeks each SCHOOL DAY: Eight class periods rotating through a two week period FACULTY: Masters Degrees: 68% Ten years or more professional experience: 60% PANDEMIC RESPONSE: Using our pre-existing 1:1 student:iPad format, CCHS immediately transitioned to virtual learning in an asynchronous format. Letter grades were still used as the measurement of learning with the exception of students who had inconsistent technology and/or emotional support to maintain equitable learning from home. In select cases CR (credit only) was earned. CURRICULUM: Course offerings are highly academic and include over 90 courses in 10 departments: Advanced Placement in Calculus, US History, Statistics, Macroeconomics, Psychology, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, English Language, English Literature, Seminar, Research, US Government & Politics and World History. Course offerings also include 12 additional honors-level classes. Kent Career/Technical Center vocational classes are available in 22 areas. GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS: 24 units of credit shall be required to earn a diploma.
