Therefore, the current study was designed and carried out during the past decade. A list of LFPs for 207 butterfly species (Super family Papilionoidea) of Sri Lanka is presented based on local studies and includes 785 plant-butterfly combinations and 480 plant species. Many of these combinations are reported for the first time in Sri Lanka. The impact of introducing new plants on the dynamics of abundance and distribution of butterflies, the possibility of butterflies being pests on crops, and observations of LFPs of rare butterfly species, are discussed. This information is crucial for the conservation management of the butterfly fauna in Sri Lanka. Key words: conservation, crops, larval food plants (LFPs), pests, plant-butterfly combination. However, so far only a few butterfly species harbouring this bacterium have been thoroughly studied. The current study aims to identify the infection status of these bacteria in some of the commonly found butterfly species in India. A total of nine butterfly species belonging to four different families were screened using PCR with Wolbachia-specific wsp and ftsZ primers. The presence of the Wolbachia super group ‘B’ in the butterflies Red Pierrot, Talicada nyseus (Guerin) (Lepidoptera: Lycaenidae) and Blue Mormon, Papilio polymnestor Cramer (Papilionidae), is documented for the first time in India. The study also gives an account on the lifetime fecundity and female-biased sex ratio in T. nyseus, suggesting a putative role for Wolbachia in the observed female-biased sex ratio distortion. A wonderful suite of endemics were seen, beginning with our extension to the Andaman Islands where we were able to find 20 of the 21 endemics, with Andaman Scops and Walden’s Scops Owls, Andaman and Hume’s Hawk Owls leading the way, Andaman Woodpigeon and Andaman Cuckoo Dove, good looks at 1 BirdQuest Tour Report: South India and Sri Lanka 2016 www.birdquest-tours.com Andaman Crake, plus all the others with the title ‘Andaman’ (with the exception of the Barn Owl) and a rich suite of other birds such as Ruddy Kingfisher, Oriental Pratincole, Long-toed Stint, Long-tailed Parakeets and Mangrove Whistler. Bus Pass Scheme in detail The Undertaking has introduced RF-ID based Bus Passes for its esteemed commuters. The Bus Pass will be issued at the authorized Point of Sale (PoS) of the Undertaking. The details of the scheme are as under. The following rates will come in force from 16/09/2015: i) Distance-wise bus pass values (on Km basis) Distance Fare (`) Within Mumbai Municipal Slab(Kms) Limits (`) Monthly Quarterly 2 8.00 390 1160 4 10.00 480 1440 6 14.00 680 2020 10 18.00 870 2600 14 22.00 1060 3170 20 26.00 1250 3750 Distance is computed on following principles: If direct route exists between the origin and destination, then distance between these stops is considered for calculating the bus pass value. If more than one direct route exists between the origin and destination, minimum distance between these stops is considered for calculating the bus pass value. If direct route is not available between the origin and destination, then distance is calculated of the routes with one change-over point. In case of multiple routes with one change-over point, minimum distance with change-over is considered for calculating the bus pass value. In the event of non-availability of connection between origin and destination even with one change-over, distance based bus pass cannot be given. Under such circumstances, passengers are advised to opt for fixed amount pass. As the bus operation is being changed as per the demand, distance between origin and destinations may not be constant. Under such circumstances bus pass values shall also increase or decrease. -

Four generations of T. nyseus has been observed in the same plant during 2015-16. Percent damage in the entire plant and percent damage of individual leaves of total leaf area/leaf were recorded based on visual observation of the foliar damage. Introduction Members of the family Lycaenidae show diverse trophic strategies involving herbivory, and carnivory. The larvae of the red Pierrot, Talicada nyseus nyseus (Lycaenidae) are adapted to a special type of environment of leaf mining. There are 8 species in the genus Talicada with oriental distribution viz., annamitica, assamica, buruana, clitophon, khasiana, macbethi, metana and nyseus. The species T. nyseus is represented by two subspecies in India, Talicada nyseus nyseus Guérin-Méneville, 1843 – Indian Red Pierrot and Talicada nyseus khasiana Swinhoe, 1893 – Khasi Red Pierrot. -

P.VenkataRamana3* 1,2Research Scholar, Department of Zoology, Yogi Vemana University, Kadapa – 516005 3Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology, Yogi Vemana University, Kadapa – 516005 Received: July 06, 2018 Accepted: August 16, 2018 ABSTRACT The Red pierrot is seasonal in its occurrence at Sri Lankamalleswara forest, Kadapa (14o45’ to 15o12’ N and 78o48’ to 79o6’ E)throughout the year. The succulent rockery plants Kalanchoepinnata (Lamk.) and K. laciniata (Linn.) are mostly the oviposition plants. Breeding was continuous Eggs are laid single; hatching period was 3-4 days after incubation. Larval period spans over 13-18 days. Pupal duration lasts 7-9 days. Changes from egg to adult formation are complete in 24-33 days.Egg hatching success rate high during February – April, larvae to pupae development rate high during March to May. Pupa to adult development rate is high in January – February. Nutritional indices CI, GR and AD decreased as the larvae aged, while those of ECD and ECI increased. The adults forage on nectar and in the process pollen is received on proboscis and transformed stigma which is a trait of psychophily. Summary: The population of this red pierrat butterfly was on the decline due to the rapid and continued destruction of natural areas particularly the scrub forests which form the natural habitat of this species. -
