Tuesday, June 7th 2022: Welcome to Ireland! Upon arrival in Dublin airport, proceed through the arrivals area where you will be met by your Professional Irish Driver Guide, who will be with you throughout your trip. We continue into Dublin and check into our hotel. This afternoon we will enjoy a panoramic tour of Dublin City with a visit EPIC, a state-of-the- art interactive experience which tells the story of Irish emigration around the world, from early times to modern day. Discover how the Irish influenced and shaped the world. Explore 20 interactive galleries in the world’s only fully digital museum, as it brings the amazing tales of adventure, endurance, sacrifice and discovery to life in a spectacular way. After your morning meal, we will make our way to Belfast. Next, we will take a tour of Slane Castle Tour, overlooking the River Boyne, upstream from Newgrange and the site of the famous Battle of the Boyne. Slane Castle in its existing form was constructed under the direction of William Burton Conyngham, together with his nephew the 1st Marquess Conyngham. The reconstruction dates back to 1785 and is principally the work of James Gandon, James Wyatt and Francis Johnston. It has been the home to the Conyngham family since 1703. Next, we will also take a tour of the Slane Distillery and learn the unfolding story of this triple-casked whiskey. Finish the tour in the best way possible, with a taste of the signature triple casked blend. Afterwards, we will stop and visit the burial place of Saint Patrick, at Downpatrick Cathedral. The Cathedral is a Church of Ireland cathedral. It stands on the site of a Benedictine Monastery, built in 1183. Saint Patrick's remains are buried in the graveyard. Magnificent stain glass windows, box pews and beautiful organ case enhances this interesting building. Once we get to Belfast, we will check in at our hotel and then have the rest of the evening to spend at your own leisure. Overnight & Dinner (DBB): The Ten Square Hotel (4-Star) Thursday, June 9th, 2022: Belfast City Tour After breakfast this morning we will take a panoramic sightseeing tour of the city to take in all of its historic and fascinating areas including the City Centre, the Protestant neighborhood of Shankill Road, the Catholic neighborhood of Falls Road and much more. The sightseeing tour will conclude at the Titanic Quarter, a large-scale waterfront regeneration comprising historic maritime landmarks, film studios, education facilities, apartments, a riverside entertainment district, and the world's number one tourist attraction, Titanic Belfast, which we will visit today. Symbolic inside and out, Titanic Belfast tells the story of RMS Titanic from her conception in Belfast in the early 1900s, through her construction and launch, to her famous maiden voyage and tragic end. This evening you will have some free time to explore Belfast as you please. Overnight (BB): The Ten Square Hotel (4-Star) Friday, June 10th, 2022: Giant Causeway & Derry This morning after breakfast we depart our hotel and make our way to the Giant’s Causeway, (one of the filming sites for the series “Game of Thrones”) an amazing geologic formation of approx. 40,000 basalt stone – some as tall as 130 feet, and mostly hexagonal in shape. Afterwards we will go to Derry where we will enjoy a guided walking tour around the Walls with our local guide – revealing a splendid city crammed full of history, heritage, interest and a vibrant cultural scene. The Walls were built during the period of 1613-1618 as defenses for early 17th century settlers from England and Scotland. They say the best stories are the ones told through images and “The Peoples’ Gallery” certainly does this. These magnificent murals created by the Bogside Artists depict the three decades of conflict in Derry and tell the story of the struggle for civil rights. Next we continue on to Donegal where we will check-in in our Hotel and enjoy the rest of the evening. Dinner will be at our hotel. Overnight & Dinner (DBB): The Sandhouse Hotel & Marine Spa (3-Star) www.caragrouptravel.com 617-639-0273 [email protected] 4 Saturday, June 11th, 2022 : Killybegs/ Slieve League/ Triona Design After a hearty breakfast this morning we head west to the town of Killybegs, the largest fishing port in Ireland. You will notice on the journey, the rugged coastline and mountains which are a part of the Wild Atlantic Way. Killybegs is the center of the Irish pelagic fishing and processing industries, as it specializes in the processing and freezing of species such as mackerel, herring, and blue whiting The next stop on the agenda will take you to one of the highest sea cliffs in Europe – Slieve League. From the highest point on the cliffs it’s a staggering 1,998 feet drop to the Atlantic Ocean below. The views are stunning and we will hike up from the visitor center or hitch a ride in the minibus. Triona Design will be our final stop today. We’ll experience the history and witness the skill and craft that has gone into creating Donegal Tweed for generations. We’ll watch Master Weavers working on looms that have been used for centuries. We will then make our way back to Donegal to our hotel for dinner. Overnight & Dinner (DBB): The Sandhouse Hotel & Marine Spa (3-Star) Sunday, June 12th, 2022: Knock Shrine & Galway Breakfast is included this morning. After your morning meal, we will leave Donegal to head to Galway. We will make a couple stops on our way there. We will first stop by Sligo – known as Yeats Country – here see Drumcliffe Churchyard at the foot of Ben Bulben Mountain – W B Yeats is buried here and great examples of a round tower and high crosses too. Our next stop is Ireland’s largest place of Pilgrimage- Knock Shrine. The Story of Knock began on Thursday evening of the 21st of August 1879, Our Lady, St Joseph and St. John the Evangelist appeared at the south gable of the church of Knock, County Mayo. Father Maher will be able to celebrate mass here in the Apparition Church. We will continue to Galway to check in at our hotel. This evening we will go Trad on the Prom which is the best traditional Irish Dance and music show in Galway City, Ireland. Performers who have captivated audiences in extraordinary and groundbreaking productions such as "Riverdance", "The Chieftains" and "Lord of the Dance" have gathered on one stage to present an unforgettable entertainment experience in Galway, Ireland, the City of the Tribes. Trad on the Prom showcases the amazing talents of legendary trad musician Máirín Fahy, the featured soloist with Riverdance and The Chieftains. The show also features an outstanding array of World Champion Irish dancers Overnight & Dinner with Trad on the Prom (BB): Hotel Meyrick (4-Star) Monday, June 13th, 2022: The Wild West of Ireland - Connemara After a leisurely breakfast we set out today to visit Connemara, a unique and very special part of County Galway. Once home to over 2 million Irish speaking people, it still retains its regional heritage as you will discover while we ramble around its lakes, mountains and bog lands. Our first stop this morning, will be a cruise on Killary Harbor, Ireland’s only fjord, sit back and relax as you enjoy your surroundings. We then visit the picturesque Kylemore Abbey, the home of the Benedictine nuns which stands at the edge of a lake surrounded by woodlands. The Abbey was originally built in 1868 by Mitchell Henry, in memory of his late wife Margaret. Its architecture is best described as neo- gothic and the house still displays all the characteristics of that period. Kylemore Abbey’s most famous feature is its miniature cathedral, known locally as the Gothic church. You can also visit the Victorian Walled Garden We return to the city where you will have dinner at your hotel and the rest of your evening to explore the lively atmosphere in Galway City.
