Naperville Jaycees' Last Fling Offers National and Local Musical Acts On
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: June 7, 2019 Contact: Karen Coleman 630.362.6683 [email protected] Naperville Jaycees’ Last Fling Offers National and Local Musical Acts on Two Stages! Naperville, IL – The Naperville Jaycees is proud to announce their full musical lineup for the Main Stage and Jackson Avenue Block Party Stage for the 2019 Last Fling. The Last Fling takes place all along the Riverwalk in Downtown Naperville over all 4 days of Labor Day weekend. “This year’s event will feel a lot more like your typical music festival. We decided to open the Main Stage gates earlier than most previous years to give patrons an opportunity to enjoy music throughout the day and allow them to come and go as they please. I really feel as if we have a solid line up this year and I hope that the community will come out, have some fun and help raise some money with us at the 2019 Last Fling,” says Entertainment Co-Chair Danielle Tufano. 2019 Main Stage Acts: The Last Fling Main Stage will start rocking on Friday night (August 30) with headliner Better Than Ezra. Before their omnipresent 1995 single “Good” hit No. 1, before their debut album Deluxe went double-platinum, before popular shows such as Desperate Housewives licensed their song “Juicy,” before Taylor Swift attested to their timeless appeal by covering their track “Breathless” — New Orleans’ Better Than Ezra was a pop-rock act paying its dues, traveling from town to town in a ramshackle van. Over two decades after the band formed, that vigilance still resonates strongly with the trio, who were finally rewarded after seven years of stubbornly chasing their dreams. -

Kim-Trang Tran Professor Jonathan M. Hall “I enjoy gawking and admiring the architecture of the male form. Sue me. Women have spent centuries living in atmospheres in which female sexual desire was repressed, denied or self-suppressed, and the time has come to salivate over rippled abdominals, pulsing pecs and veiny forearms. Let's do it. Let's enjoy it while it lasts.” --Dodai Stewart, “Hollywood Men: It's No Longer About Your Acting, It's About Your Abs” December 11th, 2015 Bailey 2 Abstract: In the traditionally patriarchal Hollywood industry, the heterosexual man’s “male gaze,” as coined by feminist film theorist Laura Mulvey, is the dominant viewing model for cinematic audiences, leaving little room for a negotiated reading of how visual images are created, presented, and internalized by male and female audiences alike. -

2015 Nielsen Music U.S. Report
2015 NIELSEN MUSIC U.S. REPORT 2015 NIELSEN MUSIC U.S. REPORT Copyright © 2016 The Nielsen Company 1 WELCOME ERIN CRAWFORD SVP ENTERTAINMENT & GM MUSIC Welcome to Nielsen’s annual Year End Music Report, a summary of consumption trends and consumer insights for 2015. Going into the year, we had recently modernized the industry measuring stick - the Billboard 200 chart - to include track downloads and streamed songs in addition to traditional album sales. The new chart reflected how fans now consume music, and in 2015 they were consuming more than ever. Total consumption, including sales, streams and track downloads, was up, fueled by the continued surge of streaming, which nearly doubled last year. And yet the biggest music consumption story of the year was not even available on streaming services. We were awed by Adele’s record-crushing 25. We monitored daily activity across sales, streaming, airplay and social, and were thrilled to report on every new milestone she achieved, incredible by any measuring stick. We also “listened” to over 500,000 music consumers in 2015. We learned about their consumption behaviors and preferences. We learned about their social activity – how they engage with their favorite artists, and how they use it to follow festivals and discover new music. And importantly, we also showed brands the power and value of music fans; how to reach them, and how to connect with them. As advocates for the business of music, we are passionate about delivering the most valuable, actionable, insights into music fans - and believe that smart data can inform creativity. -
