VSP is an applied environmental health program with a mission to help the cruise ship industry prevent and control the introduction, transmission, and spread of gastrointestinal illness on board cruise ships in U.S. waters. Between 2008 and early 2020, I conducted almost 700 cruise ship public health inspections and trained over 4,000 cruise ship managers and supervisors on maritime public health principles. Based this experience, I am familiar with the cruise ship industry’s policies and practices to mitigate onboard illnesses and their response when outbreaks of illness occur on board cruise ships. -
