Changes to some school services Effective from 28 January 2013, there are changes to some school bus services operated by Runcimans. These changes include discontinuing some school services, variations to some services and the introduction of some new services. Please note that any school bus services to and from Riverstone Terraces, or Lower Hutt suburbs to Lower Hutt Schools operated by Valley Flyer are not affected by these changes. Fares and Using Snapper on public bus routes Some of the changes detailed below require the use of public bus routes as an alternative to discontinued school bus services. The Runcimans term passes cannot be used on public bus routes, they can only be used on dedicated school buses operated by Runcimans. Credit can be loaded onto your Snapper card which can be used to transfer between Runcimans school routes and public bus routes at no additional cost, but you need to make sure that you tag on and tag off of each bus otherwise you will pay more than you need to. Transfer options are not available for the train, although monthly passes at significant discounts are available. Planning your journey We have made some suggestions below as to which particular timetabled public bus services and transfers between them may best suit your travel needs. You should however plan your journey at www.metlink.org.nz, in case there are other options more suited to you. Journey Planner information in regards to new and changed services will be available from 7 January 2013. Information on changed, new and discontinued school bus services The following information is presented by school, but in many cases school buses are shared between different schools.

  • A 40 Year History
New Zealand Secondary Schools Athletics Association National Secondary School Cross Country Championships A 40 Year History Introduction The New Zealand Secondary Schools Athletics Association is proud to publish a forty- year history of the New Zealand Secondary Schools Cross Country Championships. Participation in the event between 1974 and 2013 totals well over 10,000 athletes from all but a handful of schools from around the country. With an annual involvement of over 1000 students it has become one of the largest secondary school sporting events in New Zealand. The idea for this document was born during the 1995 NZSSCC Championships in Masterton. At this time (before the internet), results were published in a hard copy booklet. In this particular year the first three place getters in the individual, and three and six person team categories were published for the first twenty-one years of the events history. This accompanied the full set of 1995 results. After this event, the majority of results were published electronically. Unfortunately, many of these results were lost in the mid to late nineties because there was no dedicated NZSSAA website. Sincere thanks need to be given to Don Chadderton for providing the first twenty years’ of results. Without these early results a significant part of athletics New Zealand’s history would have eventually been forgotten. These include the 1974 performance of Alison Rowe, who would later go on to win both the 1981 Boston and New York marathons. As well as Burnside High School’s 1978 performance in the junior boys event where they completed the perfect three-man score of six points.

  • Stage 2 – Scenarios Summary of Submissions
Stage 2 – Scenarios Summary of Submissions August 2006 1 1 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY This report summarises submissions received as part of the second stage of consultation on the North Wellington Public Transport Study. The second stage of consultation invited comment on four scenarios, being: Enhancement of the existing rail system; Replacing current rail services with new buses running on street and conversion of the existing rail corridor to a walking and cycling track; Converting the existing rail line into a guided busway; and Light rail. Key stakeholders, including land transport providers, community groups, schools, affected residents and the general public, were invited to participate in the consultation process. Notification of the consultation process was undertaken in June 2006 through public notices in local papers, displays at the central and northern suburbs’ libraries, poster displays on buses and trains, and letters to those who participated in the first consultation stage and wished to be further consulted on the study. An information/open evening at the Johnsonville Community Centre was held to answer questions from interested persons. In addition, a webpage was set up to increase awareness and provide an ongoing reference point for interested parties. SUBMISSION ANALYSIS In this report, parts of the analysis have excluded the 858 pro forma busway submissions received. The reasons for this distinction is that the submitters who completed this form provided no clear indication as to whether they supported or opposed Scenarios 1, 2 and 4. As such, it was considered inappropriate to assume their position in respect of the other scenarios as there was no information on their views of other scenarios.
