SANTA ANA WINDS / RED FLAG FIRE CONDITIONS & PUBLIC SAFETY POWER SHUTOFFS The National Weather Services (NWS) forecasts that Red Flag fire conditions will continue through the end of the day Friday, October 11 in Malibu, and through the end of the day Saturday, in mountain areas of LA and Ventura Counties including parts of the Santa Monica Mountains, with strong gusty winds and very low humidity. Southern California Edison (SCE) notified the City that it is no longer considering a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) for western Malibu. However, hazardous fire conditions will continue through the weekend, so residents should stay vigilant.

Go! guide. o Monitor local news, including KNX AM-1070 and KBUU 99.1-FM on the radio. o Get up-to-date weather information from the National Weather Service LA/Oxnard. o Keep your gas tanks full. o Keep electric gates open. o Know how to manually open your garage door. o Check on family members and neighbors who need assistance. o The City and the LA County Fire Department will continue to monitor fire conditions and the City will provide updates as needed on the website, social media, Nextdoor, and the Emergency and Traffic Telephone Hotline (310-456-9982).

PARK CLOSURES Due to Red Flag conditions for the Malibu area, Trancas Canyon Park is closed on Friday, October 11 and Saturday, October 12. The park is expected to reopen on Sunday, .

HOW TO REACH THE CITY DURING EMERGENCIES The City encourages all community residents to sign up for emergency, traffic, weather and utility alerts through the website e-notification system at MalibuCity.org/News (scroll down to "Alert Center"). You can also get emergency information during a disaster by phone by calling the City’s Hotline at 310-456-9982. During an emergency situation, the Hotline is updated regularly with current information.

ONE CALL TO CITY HALL 310-456-CITY, EXTENSION 311 One Call to City Hall is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week for community members to report issues or contact City staff during non-business hours. For life-threatening emergencies, please call 911.

MALIBU REBUILDS - REBUILD COORDINATOR AVAILABLE TO ASSIST WITH POST-WOOLSEY FIRE REBUILD PROJECTS As part of the City’s ongoing efforts to assist property owners whose homes were damaged or destroyed by the Woolsey Fire, a new Building Plan Check coordination service is now offered to applicants. The Rebuild Coordinator is available to meet in person at City Hall to assist property owners and their representatives with securing approvals of building plans from all City Departments and outside agencies after projects have been approved by Planning. The Rebuild Coordinator will also assist in completing all construction permit applications upon approval of building plans. The Rebuild Coordinator is available Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM to meet with applicants and to make appointments for them to meet one-on-one with City Department specialists. REBUILD CONSULTATIONS The fire rebuild team is available for complimentary one-on-one consultations about any fire rebuild project. PRIMARY VIEW DETERMINATIONS FOR WOOLSEY FIRE AREA On 9, the City Council adopted an ordinance to halt primary view determinations where the view would be over a property affected by the Woolsey Fire or other natural disaster.

MALIBU LIBRARY SPEAKER SERIES High-Altitude Mountaineer Ed Viesturs will be the featured speaker for our next Malibu Library Speaker Series on Wednesday, October 16. Viesturs has successfully reached the summit of the world’s fourteen 8,000-meter peaks without supplemental oxygen and has been named National Geographic’s Adventurer of the Year. He will discuss his recent bestselling autobiography No Shortcuts to the Top and will be available to sign books following the event. TEMPORARY SKATE PARK COMMUNITY SURVEY The City of Malibu wants to hear your feedback regarding proposed features for the temporary skate park at Malibu Bluffs Park. Take the Temporary Skate Park Survey online. The deadline to complete the survey is Friday, , 4:30 PM.

GUARDRAIL REPLACEMENT PROJECT The Guardrail Replacement Project consists of replacement of the damaged guardrails from the Woolsey Fire at various locations within the City. The project will be through October, Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The installation of the new guardrails will require temporary lane closures. One travel lane will be open at all times. Work will take place at the following locations:

o Encinal Canyon (between Avenida Del Mar to Avenida De La Encinal) o Birdview Avenue (between Westward Beach Road to Bluewater Road) o Wildlife Road (between Zumirez Drive to Selfridge Street) o Latigo Canyon (between PCH to Ocean View Drive) o Corral Canyon (PCH to Seabreeze Drive)

PACIFIC COAST HIGHWAY – PAVEMENT PROJECT (CALTRANS)

o Caltrans will be doing pavement repair and slurry seal work on Pacific Coast Highway from the McClure Tunnel in Santa Monica to the Malibu Lagoon Bridge weekdays 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM through mid-October. One lane will remain open at all times.
