9 10 11 Local Priorities Re- fresh 2014

Wendover Local Area Forum (LAF) invited its Youth Forum to run its local priorities process which involved consulting with residents to see if the LAF should revise its local priorities.

Residents in the local area parishes (Aston Clinton, Buckland, , Halton, Stoke Mandeville, Wendover and ) were surveyed and invited to rank their priorities and provide comment on the reasons behind these rankings.

The local priorities budget will be Wendover Parish Council provided a stand at Wendover allocated to the top actionable local Market. News. The members of the Youth Forum were 333 residents of all ages in the local area asked to speak to older people, young families, took the opportunity to respond and give young people, businesses, local groups and their views on the top priorities.

The young people spent a day inputting the information, so the rankings could be obtained and information on specific issues and concerns collated.

13 The area priorities The top actionable priorities, for which proposals could be put forward and potential projects implemented for funding by the LAF are: 1. Activities and facilities for young people aged 11+ 2. Parking issues 3. Speeding/rat-running through the villages 4. Concern about elderly people/ vulnerable groups unable to meet people 5. Safer routes to school

The top strategic priorities for the LAF to publicity in Wendover, particularly with the monitor and lobby on behalf of the local area additional support provided by the Parish are: Council. 165 votes came from residents 1. HS2 who defined themselves as coming from 2. Road improvements Wendover. However, the Youth Forum understood that it was important to target the other parishes and extensive work was undertaken

to encourage residents in the smaller parishes to respond. Weston Turville fielded 77

completed surveys and 58 Aston Clinton residents provided their responses. The remaining responses came from Halton, Stoke Mandeville, Buckland, Drayton Beauchamp (in order of number of responses). The young people found that the majority of the priorities in 2012 were still top local issues and concerns. Again, HS2 was the top priority for the area, although this will be a strategic priority and one the LAF will monitor or lobby on behalf of rather than an actionable priority which would involve the LAF instigating work to effect an outcome. One priority that had been a top issue in 2010, but not in 2012, was back on the agenda: Parking, while others were seen as lesser issues including Anti-social behaviour.
