The purpose of the Great Brickhill, Wing & Ivinghoe Area Plan

The purpose of the Great Brickhill, Wing & Ivinghoe Area Plan is to set out a clear list of local priorities that need to be addressed in order to improve the social, economic and environmental conditions within the Great Brickhill, Wing & Ivinghoe local community area over the next two-three years.

In some instances, the Great Brickhill, Wing & Ivinghoe Local Area Forum will be able to directly impact on actions to address one or more of the priority themes through allocation of its delegated budgets. The LAF is a meeting where local county, district and parish councillors, along with representa- tives of the police, fire and rescue, and other public and voluntary/community sector partners, meet to discuss local residents’ needs and priori- ties.

A workshop was held to refresh the LAF’s priorities on 23 April 2014. The event was attended by 38 people, representing 11 parish councils, 6 community groups, Buckinghamshire County Council and Aylesbury Vale District Council. The meeting discussed 14 possible priorities. These options had been put together based on and suggestions provided by LAF members. The following priorities were identified at the workshop (in order of priority). These top actionable priorities will be worked on by the LAF and also updated on a regular basis as these are taken forward. LAF budgets will be allocated to parish church the actionable priorities.

Footpaths and cycleways

More accessible transport required, including community transport schemes

Support for community ventures, e.g. community libraries, and encouraging volunteering in the community.

Summary of current Speeding is a priority for both the Wing South and Wing North neighbourhood situation Police teams. Speeding was also identified as a number one priority for residents who responded to the Local Area Forum survey on local issues and concerns ahead of the prioritisation workshop.

Work being A subgroup has been set up to look at issues surrounding this priority. MVAS have been purchased by the LAF to share between parishes and the LAF has agreed to fund a number of small traffic calming measures in parishes where speeding issues have been identified through community speedwatch.

An additional Sentinel device has been purchased to enhance the effectiveness of community speedwatch. Proposals for additional traffic calming measures will be considered by the LAF at its November meeting.

Activities and facilities for young people aged 11+ Updated December 2015

Summary of current A gap analysis has been undertaken to assess where there is a need for additional situation non-structured activities (eg youth clubs) for young people or where further diversionary activities would be of benefit. At the Local Area Forum priorities refresh workshop attended by young people, it was noted that young people would like a skateboard park in Pitstone and Cheddington. Also it was noted that parishes would welcome further opportunities for youth engagement including youth councils/forums.

Summary of current A number of footpaths have been created—most linking with LAF funding or situation assistance—but there is still a need for a number of other footpaths and cyclepaths in (which is currently looking at additional funding after being awarded some LAF funding), , Pitstone, Stewkley and other parishes.

Encouraging volunteering in the community Updated December 2015

Summary of current Volunteers are needed in the parishes for a number of schemes/clubs including situation youth clubs, community car schemes, the new community-run libraries and other local organisations. Parishes need to be supported in encouraging residents to come forward and volunteer and also the best practice for recruiting and retaining volunteers. Work has taken place to encourage volunteering for specific projects—through the LAF or by individual parish councils (Pitstone has a volunteer leaflet)—but still the need for volunteers outweighs supply in many parishes.
