These procedures should not be attempted by “do-it-yourselfers.” 4 CLIPS 1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery. 2. Remove the passenger’s dashboard side lid, and unplug the vehicle connector, if equipped. Pull away the door opening seal. DOOR OPENING SEAL 3 RETAINING (Pull away.) TABS PASSENGER’S UNDER COVER 4. Open the glove box, push inward on the glove box stops and remove the glove box. 2 GLOVE BOX STOPS VEHICLE CONNECTOR PASSENGER’S (if equipped) DASHBOARD 4 CLIPS SIDE LID 3. Remove the glove box cover, and unplug the vehicle 6. Remove the driver’s dashboard lower cover, unplug connector, if equipped. the vehicle connectors and aspirator hose. Attach masking tape to the area shown. 9. Remove the left center console trim. Remove the audio unit, and unplug the vehicle connectors. 6 CLIPS AUDIO UNIT 4 CLIPS RIGHT CENTER CONSOLE TRIM 13. Remove the A/C control unit, and unplug the vehicle connectors. 2 BOLTS VEHICLE CONNECTORS 2 RETAINING 4 CLIPS TABS VEHICLE VEHICLE BRACKET CLIP 15. Remove the console rear panel and unplug the vehicle connectors, if equipped. Remove the shift lever console panel: • Remove the console panel, and unplug the vehicle connectors. A/T Models • Open the center console armrest, and slide the CONSOLE sliding tray (if equipped) and the beverage PANEL 2 SELF-TAPPING holder rearward. SCREWS • Remove the shift lock release cover with a plastic trim tool. • Insert the key into the shift lock release slot, and move the shift lever knob to the D position. NOTE: Make sure to apply the parking brake. SHIFT LOCK RELEASE SHIFT LOCK SLOT RELEASE COVER SHIFT LEVER KNOB (Move to the D position.) KEY 5 CLIPS VEHICLE CONNECTORS • Release the shift lever panel. If equipped, remove the lower tray mat. 21. If equipped, release the vehicle clip, and unplug the vehicle connector. VEHICLE CLIP 2 CLIPS 2 SELF- TAPPING VEHICLE SCREWS CLIP LEFT SIDE PANEL 3 BOLTS DASHBOARD CLIP CENTER LOWER COVER CLIP 5 SELF-TAPPING SCREWS 26. Remove the two self-tapping screws from the center console armrest. 24. Remove the right side panel. Remove the center console armrest. 28. Apply masking tape to the left side panel as shown. CENTER CONSOLE ARMREST 5 mm 2 RETAINING (Do not reuse.) 2 CLIPS (0.20 in.) TABS 15 mm (0.59 in.) Cut. MASKING TAPE LEFT SIDE PANEL CENTER ARMREST BASE CORRECT INCORRECT HACKSAW HACKSAW LEFT SIDE LEFT SIDE PANEL PANEL SECTION VIEW 29. Using a hacksaw, cut the left side panel as shown. Using a file, remove any burrs. NOTE: Be careful not to damage the left side panel. 30. Remove the masking tape. 31. (inside) RIB MASKING TAPE (Line up with the end of the rib.) Clean with isopropyl alcohol. 34. Using scissors, cut one piece of aluminum tape as shown. Apply the fuse label to the light harness fuse case. 60 mm (2.36 in.) RIB 40 mm (1.57 in.) Clean with isopropyl alcohol. 36. Using scissors, cut one piece of aluminum tape as shown. Secure the left light harness to the left side panel with two pieces of aluminum tape. NOTE: Do not fold the left light harness. 37. Route the light harness as shown. 41. Line up the green tape on the light harness with the vehicle clip, and secure the light harness to the LIGHT HARNESS vehicle harness with one wire tie. 6-PIN CONNECTOR WIRE TIE VEHICLE VEHICLE CLIP HARNESS LIGHT HARNESS 12-PIN CONNECTOR LIGHT HARNESS 2-PIN CONNECTOR VEHICLE LIGHT GREEN TAPE PANEL HARNESS (Line up with the vehicle clip.) LIGHT HARNESS 42. Plug the vehicle or other accessory 12-pin connector into the light harness 12-pin connector.
