Murray Abraham (Barnard), Kate Buddeke (Jane), Laura Esterman (Mrs. Garland), Nancy Giles (Marci), Lily Gladstone (Denise), Ed Harris (Dr. Michaels), Charlotte Hope (Mom), Mark Linn- Baker (Timothy), Amy Madigan (Evangeline), Rileigh McDonald (Frannie), Kenny Mellman (Jerome), Maulik Pancholy (Alex), Rhea Perlman (Nora) and Michael Rabe (Jimmy), will lite up the star in the New York premiere of David Rabe’s Good for Otto. Rhea Perlman took over the role of Nora, after Rosie O’Donnell, became ill. Directed by Scott Elliott, this production will play a limited Off-Broadway engagement February 20 – April 1, with Opening Night on Thursday, March 8 at The Pershing Square Signature Center (The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre, 480 West 42nd Street). Through the microcosm of a rural Connecticut mental health center, Tony Award-winning playwright David Rabe conjures a whole American community on the edge. Like their patients and their families, Dr. Michaels (Ed Harris), his colleague Evangeline (Amy Madigan) and the clinic itself teeter between breakdown and survival, wielding dedication and humanity against the cunning, inventive adversary of mental illness, to hold onto the need to fight – and to live. Inspired by a real clinic, Rabe finds humor and compassion in a raft of richly drawn characters adrift in a society and a system stretched beyond capacity.

2018 Season Sponsor Addison Wolfe Real Estate A BOUTIQUE REAL ESTATE FIRM WITH GLOB AL CONNECTIONS There are only so many seats in first class ... Main Office: 550 Union Square, New Hope, PA 18938 Addison Wolfe by the Canal: 30 West Bridge Street, New Hope, PA 18938 www.AddisonWolfe.com • 215- 862-5500 FROM THE PRODUCERS Dear Playhouse Friends, We are still reeling over the great success of 42nd Street, and grateful beyond measure to the terrific creative team led by Director Hunter Foster and Choreographer Jeremy Dumont and the fabulous cast for delivering our biggest production to date. Of the more than 13,000 who saw the production, we welcomed 4,500 guests for their first time to the Playhouse! Now we are thrilled to present a famous day in rock and roll history, as told in Million Dollar Quartet. Hunter Foster played legendary music producer Sam Phillips in the original Broadway production, and has directed the show many times around the country. He’s assembled a terrific cast from those productions, including returning Playhouse artists James Ludwig (Ebenezer Scrooge’s Big Playhouse Christmas Show), Zach Cossman (Buddy) and Ryah Nixon (The Rocky Horror Show). We’re gearing up for our big fundraiser for the year, the fourth Galavant in the Garden, to be held at Barbara and Jay Belding’s beautiful home on Saturday, September 22. Speaking of rock and roll history, our headliner this year is none other than the original girl group star herself, Darlene Love. We first saw Darlene on Broadway in 1985’s Leader of the Pack, and her rendition of “River Deep, Mountain High” became an instant classic.

  • STACY KEACH RETURNS to WASHINGTON to STAR in King Lear at SHAKESPEARE THEATRE COMPANY JUNE 16-JULY 19
We’re going green! Over the next few months, STC will be transitioning to electronic distribution for all press releases. We don’t want lose contact with you! Please provide us with your email address so that we can continue to send our press releases to you. For Immediate Release Media Contact: Amy Scott-Douglass May 22, 2009 202.547.3230 ext. 2312 [email protected] STACY KEACH RETURNS TO WASHINGTON TO STAR IN King Lear AT SHAKESPEARE THEATRE COMPANY JUNE 16-JULY 19 Remount of Critically-Acclaimed Production by Tony Award-winning Director Robert Falls WASHINGTON, D.C.— Two theatre greats—actor Stacy Keach and director Robert Falls—have teamed up to bring one of the most powerful dramas in Western literature to the Shakespeare Theatre Company. Keach will star in Falls’ remount of his critically-acclaimed production of King Lear at Sidney Harman Hall (610 F Street NW) from June 16 to July 19, 2009. Tony Award-winning director Falls’ provocative, graphic production captures both the stark violence and the devastating passion of Shakespeare's masterpiece. Seeking to place King Lear in “a very specific time and place,” Falls chose war-torn 1990s Yugoslavia as the setting. “I wanted to challenge myself,” says Falls, “into thinking about theatre and about life in a more immediate, contemporary, daring way.” When the production premiered at Chicago’s Goodman Theatre in 2006, The Chicago Tribune called it “a colossal, eye-popping operatic production,” and The New York Times proclaimed it one of the best productions of 2006. “It’s the production I’m most proud of in my career,” says Falls, “so I’m thrilled to be doing it at the Shakespeare Theatre Company.” Fresh off his Helen Hayes Award-winning performance in Frost-Nixon, Stacy Keach returns to STC to star as the tempestuous patriarch.
