Southern Vietnam with Mekong Delta Itinerary: HCMC – Cu Chi – Can Tho – HCMC (5 Days/4 Nights )
Day 1: Ho Chi Minh City, Arrival (_/_/D) Upon arriving at Tan Son Nhat Airport, our tour guide and driver will pick you up and take you to your hotel at the center of Ho Chi Minh City. In the evening we will bring you to a unique Water Puppet Show, a traditional art which is closely connected with the long-standing spiritual life of the Vietnamese people. Continuing to the harbor by cyclo you will arrive at a dinner cruise at the Saigon River. Here you can enjoy a scrumptious dinner while watching the vibrant life and lights of the city from the Dragon Boat. After dinner we will bring you back to your hotel where you can have a good night’s rest.
Day 2: Ho Chi Minh City – Cu Chi – Ho Chi Minh City (B/L/_) Enjoy your breakfast at your hotel as you get ready for a day in the name of history. We will depart for the Cu Chi Tunnels, which are an intriguing insight into the Vietnamese guerrilla warfare from the Vietnam-American war in the 70’s. When we will arrive, you will first be brought into the horror of the clever forest traps made by the Vietnamese before getting a chance to crawl down into the small and narrow tunnels yourself. Here in the middle of the jungle it is easy to feel the simple, yet clever tactics of the Vietnamese, as you will see the accommodations and experience the life as it was during the war. In the afternoon we will bring you back to Ho Chi Minh City and you will have free time to experience the city on your own. Dinner is at the guest’s own account.
Day 3: Ho Chi Minh City – My Tho – Ben Tre – Can Tho (B/L/_) When you have had your breakfast we will depart for the Mekong Delta. On the way you can will enjoy the beautiful scenes of the rice fields as we drive towards My Tho by Highway one. As we arrive you will get transferred to a boat where the river will bring you to the Tortoise Island for lunch at an orchard. Afterwards you will have a great chance to greet the locals, as we continue by boat, up the smaller streams where we visit an open air local coconut factory in the middle of the green jungle in Ben Tre. While rowing towards another small village, you can let the vibrant colors of the creeks stun you and as we arrive the villagers will serve green tea with fresh honey and tropical fruits. As you consume the sweet treat, they will perform their local folk music. After Ben Tre we will bring you too Can Tho. Upon ordering the tour, you will be given two options on how you would like to spend the night. Option 1 – You can be accommodated in a hotel near the Mekong River and local market, where dinner will be on your own account. Option 2 – When arriving in Can Tho we will transfer you to a motorboat which will bring you to a small village in the Cai Rang district. Here you will check into a riverside cottage, go cycling or trekking around the village and in the evening you will join a family as they prepare dinner. In the evening the local villager will also play their local folk music and you can enjoy the night in rural surroundings
Day 4: Can Tho – Ho Chi Minh City (B/L/_) In the morning after breakfast we will take you on a morning trip to visit the Phong Dien Floating Market. Here the traders are most busy in the morning and you will get a great buzz out of the local life
at the river as they are trading commodities from their boats and vessels. Continuing cruises along the river, we will visit a local noddle factory, where they produce the famous Vietnamese rice paper. You might also get a chance to taste the crispy fried noddle and see how normal rice noodles are made. Afterwards we will continue by boat and dock, where you will have a chance to experience the “Monkey Bridge” in the Mekong Delta. On the way back we will visit the second floating market, Cai Rang. Before heading back towards Ho Chi Minh City, lunch will be served at a local restaurant in Can Tho. Upon arrival in Ho Chi Minh City, we will make sure you get checked in to your hotel, and in the evening dinner is at the guest’s own account.
Day 5: Ho Chi Minh City, Departure (B/_/_) Breakfast will be served at your hotel and before leaving Ho Chi Minh City, you can enjoy some shopping at the historical Ben Thanh Market, which also has Islamic shops in the nearby streets. Proceeding to depart from Ho Chi Minh City, we will bring you to the Tan Son Nhat Airport. After having experienced the southern Vietnam in a 5 days trip, we truly hope you will have enjoyed the trip and may it have been a journey of a lifetime.
