The days are going by way too fast. The pool has been closed down, harvest has gone into full swing and the kids are back at school. Soon the Arena will be brought to life with many exciting games to fill the winter months. It was a very good summer for the pool and with the additions to the pool side park in- cluding playground equipment and the new shelter, made it available for everyone to enjoy. I have talked to people from other towns that are quite envious of the shelter and it is fantastic to see families and groups utilizing it. We had great weather for most of the summer which helped bring numbers up for usage of the pool. Thanks to all of the staff and outside help that kept it running so smoothly. We will be continuing on with grass cutting, street sweeping and pothole repairs. As far as the street repairs that have been done, we are pretty happy with the results of some of the different styles of road repairs and we know ways we can improve upon certain standards going forward. This was our first crack at grinding and relaying and with the improvements we already know we can make, I can see that as a process we will utilize in the future.

    Fast Facts About the Horizon® Blimp’s Western Canada Journey ® • The Horizon Blimp will cover 2.5 million acres on the ground and almost 3 million acres in the sky throughout the three-month tour • The Horizon Blimp averages heights of 200 to 450 feet above the ground and frequently performs aerial acrobatics • The most crowd-pleasing flight demonstration is the breathtaking nose high departure and vertical take-off. • A three man crew will operate the Horizon Blimp totaling approximately 3000 man hours • The most common question asked of the crew during last year’s tour was, ‘How much to get a ride?’ • The Horizon Blimp will take over 10,000 hours of aerial footage. • Ready for flight, the Horizon Blimp weighs only approx. 8 kg and measures 35’ x13’ when fully inflated. • The Horizon Blimp will be flying between 40 and 64 km/hour - the fastest recorded speed is 70 km/h. • The Horizon Blimp is filled with helium (approximately 1350 cubic ft. of inert lifting gas). • The Horizon Blimp is powered by (2) Twin Fuel Injected, 2 stroke engines, which burn Methanol/castor oil mix as fuel.
