Mark Morefield became the ninth head coach in UMHB women’s basketball history in April of 2015. He joins the Cru after a long and successful stint as a Division I men’s basketball REBECCA NEUGER, ASSISTANT COACH assistant coach. Rebecca Neuger joined the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women’s basketball coaching staff as a full-time assistant in July 2015. He has coached a pair of professional teams in interna- tional competition in the off-season and has also coached two Athletes in Action teams on international tours.

Morefield spent the 2014-15 season as the boys’ basketball coach at Vanguard College Preparatory School in Waco. He led the Vikings to a 26-5 record and the TAPPS Sweet 16. He also served as girls’ basketball coach at Texas Christian Academy in Waco for one year and also works with a developmental basketball program in Waco. Morefield is a 1998 graduate of Valparaiso University. He is married to Danika, the daughter of Baylor Women’s Basketball Associate Head Coach Bill Brock. The couple has two sons, Harrison and Ryan.

DEREK LICHOTA - TEAM PHYSICIAN Dr. Derek Lichota is in his seventh year as a team physician for the UMHB athletic department. Dr. Lichota also serves as the Medical Director of the Pavillion Outpatient Surgery Hosptial at Scott JESSLYN POOLE and White and as Director of the Musculoskeletal Medicine Student Program at Scott and White. FRESHMAN, GUARD, 5-9, CRAWFORD, TEXAS Dr. Lichota is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine. Jesslyn is studying education at UMHB. She played volleyball, basketball and ran track at Craw- Lichota earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Miami in 1983 and earned his ford High School, where she was an all-state and all-region honoree. Jesslyn was also named M.D. from the Texas A&M Health Science Center in 1987. He served his residency and internship at Scott and White District MVP and earned an all-academic selection all four years. She was also a member of Beta Hosptial and also completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship with an Emphasis on Injury to Knee and Shoulder at Baylor Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and PALs. Jesslyn is the daughter of Jeff and Lisa Poole. College of Medicine in Houston. Lichota is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. His patient care emphasis is care of athletes and athletic injuries. He specializes in knees and shoulders and also works in arthroscopic care. He has also served as the Medical Director of the UMHB Athletic Training program. He serves as the team physician for Belton High School and has served as the team physician for the Central Texas Barracudas.

DR. GEORGE BARTELS - TEAM PHYSICIAN Dr. George Bartels returned to UMHB as a team physician for the athletic department in 2015. Bartels specializes in Sports Medicine and Family Medicine for Baylor Scott and White Hospital at the Belton Clinic. Bartels has also served as the Medical Director for the Belton Clinic and as Chairman of KEOSHA WILBURN the Texas Medical Association’s Section of Family Practice. FRESHMAN, GUARD, 5-6, FORT WORTH, TEXAS Bartels earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Texas Lutheran College in 1974 and earned his M.D. from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio in 1980. Dr. Henry Mayer passed away in May of 2015 after spending eight years as team physician for the Uni- versity of Mary Hardin-Baylor athletic department. He worked with every athletic program on campus and touched the lives of numerous student-athletes, coaches and staff members during his tenure with Cru Athletics. He is survived by his wife, Joyce, the couple’s three children, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Coach Mann came to UMHB from Temple High School, where he spent the seven years as head coach of the boys and girls golf teams. Coach Mann spent a total of 19 years teaching and coaching in the Temple Independent School District. He took the Temple boys golf team to 4 district titles and 2 district runner-ups finishes in his 7 years as coach. In that same time, Coach Mann took the girls team to 3 district titles and 3 district runner-up finishes. The teams only missed the regional tournament once each during Coach Mann’s tenure.

Randy Mann is a 1980 graduate of Tarleton State University in Stephenville, and he received his master’s degree from Tarleton in 1998. He and his wife, Caroline, have three sons, Mitchell, Michael, and Marshall.
