Volunteer Engagement Update Issue 2 | Feb 2013 Volunteer Recogniton President’s XV Awards Thank you for promoting this year’s awards. We received over 170 nominations. The judging panel meet on Tuesday 5 March to select the 15 winners and 30 runners up. Once they have been chosen and checks completed, the winners will be notified and we will publicise the results. Winners trophies will be presented by one of the panel and we will ask RFU Council Members to present runners up trophies at local events. CB Volunteer Recognition Events Several CBs are planning events to recognise club and CB volunteers. To access Exceptional Volunteer Recognition Gifts please use the ‘multiple nomination form’ attached and allow good time for the items to reach you. We need a quality nomination for each volunteer before items are dispatched. Nominations should include what the volunteer has done and the difference their efforts have made to rugby. The ‘guide to making good nominations’ is attached. The following gifts are available while stocks last! Young volunteers (16-24) RFU Hoodie Adults RFU tie RFU cufflinks RFU pen RFU business card holder RFU compact mirror Rose trinket box England Matches Record numbers of volunteers (who already had a ticket) enjoyed Pizza in the Car Park organised by Paula Hanson before England’s home RBS 6 Nations games. A select few volunteers experienced an exclusive opportunity to see the England team train at West Park Leeds and Penny Hill Park. 50 tickets were given to valued volunteers by local delivery teams for each of the following matches: England Saxons v Scotland A at Newcastle RFC; England U20's v Scotland U20's at Plymouth Albion RFC; England U20's v France U20's at Sixways, Worcester; England U20's v Italy U20's at Northampton, Franklins Gardens. The England Rose is an official registered trade mark of the Rugby Football Union Training Volunteer Coordination We want to ensure rugby always has an enthusiastic, well-trained and effective volunteer workforce. Short workshops have been created to share the knowledge and skills needed to recruit and keep volunteers so everyone enjoys their experience in rugby. Topics include: Introduction to volunteer coordination; The role of the Club Volunteer Coordinator; Volunteer Recruitment; Volunteer retention; Dealing with difficult volunteers; Volunteer recognition; Volunteer workforce planning; Engaging volunteers in clubs at risk. Rugby Development Officers have received ‘product orientation’ to enable them to deliver sessions that meet the needs of local clubs. Rugby World Cup Lead Up & Legacy It would be fantastic if all rugby clubs in England are the best hosts when the third biggest sporting event is held here! Staffordshire Rugby Union have designed a short, interactive session to help clubs be more welcoming. Nat West RugbyForce: 15-16 June 2013 Over 400 clubs have signed up to take part in the nationwide programme designed to make rugby clubs stronger businesses by improving and renovating their facilities with the support of volunteers and the community. Volunteers Week: 1-7 June 2013 Plans are underway for this year’s national campaign. Following the merger of Volunteering England and NCVO new branding will focus on saying Thank You.
