Boothy’s Bit

Weekend of Running 3 rd /4 th /5 th July As you know, after much deliberation, the Committee has decided that this year’s club event will be a weekend of running, which will comprise three races:

Time Date Race Loca tion 7.15pm Friday 3 rd July Uphill Mile Clowbridge

2.00pm Sat 4 th July Fell Race Reservoir Sailing Club th 11.00am Sunday 5 Trail Race BB11 5PF July

Race 1, Uphill Mile , will commence at the cattle grid at the bottom of the metalled (tarmac) road GR 824283 and finish at the entrance to the Golf Ball area GR 810286. The race will take the form of a time trial, with runners setting off at 30 second intervals. Race 2, Fell Race , will follow the same route as the Uphill Mile, to the Golf Balls, taking the bridle way, rather than the road, over the last 250m. From there you go along the track towards May Well, before a sharp right turn to the Hameldon Hill trig. Follow the rutted path over the moor to the top of the ‘Dry Valley’ before rejoining the main track towards the Golf Balls and retracing your outward journey. About 4 miles. Race 3, Trail Race , about 5 miles along the trails around Clowbridge Reservoir. Weather permitting, there will be children’s (junior) races along the flat trail by the reservoir.

So that we can give even more support to Mo Laney’s Malawi Appeal, there will be an entry fee: £5 for an individual race; £10 for the series – a bargain!

After Sunday’s Trail Race, there will be a series presentation and social event at the Bull & Butcher Pub, Manchester Road. On Sunday afternoon the pub serves traditional roast dinners, as well as Indian meals.

We are hoping that the weekend of running will be as big a success as the Barley Relays of the last two years. This will only happen if plenty of members turn up and run. We have tried to select a venue, races and times that will be convenient for members, so please come along, bring the family to watch (and join in).

Pendle and Burnley Grand Prix

There are four Grand Prix races in June:

Saturday, 6 th June, the Kelbrook Fell Race is a short (3 mile), sharp lung-burster, with 700’ of ascent. The race starts outside the church and you charge up the road (hopefully avoiding the parked cars), which steepens before you turn off onto a farm track. A sharp right turn takes you onto the moor, and you continue to climb to a wall corner where a marshal invites you to plunge down a steep bank (good studs needed in the wet). It’s then across a couple of fields, ford the stream and climb a steep, slippery bank before tackling the lane back to the village, which always seems much further than you remember.

Friday, 12 th June, Barley Fell Race is a bit of a wolf in sheep’s clothing, as about two of its five miles are on tarmac. Starting in Barley Village Centre, you run up the Downham Road for a mile, to the lane which leads to Pendle House. From here you take the left-hand track onto Pendle, before turning sharp right and heading for the summit. Rounding the trig you retrace your route, before descending to Buttock Farm and joining the Ogden track for the sprint to the finish outside the Village Hall, where Neil W will reluctantly tell you about the time he once won this race!

Sunday, 21 st June, the Burnley Boys’ Club 10K is a three-lap, road/canal towpath race from Barden Lane Track. After a rapid lap of the track, you run down Barden Lane, over the canal bridge before turning left onto Lower Manor Lane. After about a quarter of a mile downhill, you again turn sharp left and go quite steeply uphill towards the canal, where you hope that you have to queue at the barrier to get your breath back. After 100m on the towpath, you cross the bridge, run up the lane and round the back of the new schools, to arrive back at the entrance to the track. Only another two laps to go!

Sunday, 28 th June, the 7 starts at Trawden Recreation Ground, high above the village. After racing round the field you run along narrow lanes, downhill to Laneshawbridge, before turning right onto the road towards Haworth. After an initial climb and flat section, there is a long, long uphill, steep in parts. Once you have reached the top, at the old Herders Inn, there is still about a mile of road before you turn off down quite a rough track initially, that leads through the picturesque valley. After crossing the ford or bridge in the hamlet there is a deceptively long, gradual climb back to the Rec, for a wobbly-legged run round the field to the finish.

LETTER

Hi Pete, I would like to say a massive "Thank You" to Paul Healey, Marie Greenwood, Garry Wilkinson and Paul Toman for the organisation of the Hameldon Hill Race and anyone else who helped on the day. Medic Malawi gained an extra £450 from the day- £200 from the race proceeds, £200 from the raffle and £50 from the pub. Fantastic! With my personal gains it was a very profitable day!!! Thank you to everyone who ran and bought tickets. My sponsorship for 3 Peaks is going very well. To date, I have raised over £800 and hope to top £1000 when I catch the rest of my sponsors! In total I have banked £2500 which is way beyond my expectations in November, when Paul and I discussed the charity idea. So many people have helped- John Roche is currently coaching his beginners to both improve their standard and raise money for Malawi. Garry is working on the Whalley Nab race at present to add to the charity coffers. I have been overwhelmed by the kindness of everyone and the children in Malawi will love the new classroom/s that you have helped build for them. Eleanor is going over there in June so she can report on the amazing generosity of both Clayton Harriers, St. Wilfrid's School and all my other sponsors.

Thank you all and keep on training .Whalley Nab is a fabulous place to visit in August!!! Mo Laney xx

Great Hameldon Hill Race Report for local press

Proceeds from this year’s race will go towards building a new classroom for children in Malawi. Clayton-le-Moors Harriers member Maureen Laney, currently holder of the silver medal in the World Mountain Running Championships in her age group, former gold medal winner on the mountains and international runner on the road, has sought help from her fellow runners in championing this cause. Maureen’s daughter, Eleanor, recently took a gap year before going to University, and she spent three months in the African country of Malawi.

Eleanor worked as a volunteer in an area called Mtunthama, teaching Maths and Science to classes with as many as 70 children and she also helped in the local Orphanage and feeding orphaned babies in the local Medical Centre. Eleanor says, whilst the people, and particularly the children, were severely deprived and at serious risk of AIDS infection, she was greatly impressed by their apparent open happiness and contentment with their lives. She witnessed starvation and in particular the near death of a baby in this situation.

Eleanor returned home determined to do her little bit to improve the lives of these people and has planned to return to Malawi again this Summer. As most students Eleanor does not have lots of money but she has managed to send out of her savings (what to us would be seen as a minimal amount but to people in Malawi a significant help) to a young orphaned student to help him with his fees. (Once orphaned children reach 16 years of age they must make their own way in life and give up their place in the orphanage.) The gratitude of the people is quite apparent in the number of letters of thanks sent to Eleanor, many of whom have lost their parents through AIDS.

The Clayton-le-Moors Harriers Committee have offered on behalf of the club to help Maureen and Eleanor throughout 2009 to raise funds to build a new classroom for these children (at an approximate cost of £2500).

Maureen says she has already been overwhelmed with the support from friends in the running club and claims the people of Mtunthama will welcome the friendship of runners from a strange place called Clayton-le-Moors.

[Mo was too modest to inform us that she was the winner of the Great Hameldon Hill Race, after pushing an up-and-coming junior star, Emily Klee (Leeds City AC), into second place. Emily is less than one third of Mo’s age! (sorry Mo) - Ed]

LETTER

Dear Peter,

I’ve never made a contribution to the news letter before, but think this email below and competitors’ list from Bryan Speight (current president of The Three Peaks Race) is maybe worth breaking my duck. It came in response to my father’s request (he’s also called Peter and is now 75) to correct a mistake about the winner’s list in 1957. It will be of interest to all members who compete in or watch the race, especially "us owd ‘uns". I did thank Bryan for the info and mentioned that I would forward it to the newsletter ed.

Regards Peter Dugdale (junior)

Dear Peter Bryan Speight has passed on to me your message about your father's 3 Peaks victory in 1957.

I've checked to find out how the mistake with his name occurred. It seems to have arisen a few years ago when we started including first names in the list of previous winners. All the old results sheets had only initials and our collective memory failed. However, I must take the main responsibility for the error. I now will ensure that the correct name now goes into the archives and on all future lists of past winners It is important that historians of the 3 Peaks Race have accurate information and we're very grateful to you for putting us right on this matter.

In case your father does not still have a copy of the 1957 results I have reproduced them below. They include some very distinguished names in the history of fell running. Jack Bloor had won the race in 1956 and Alan Heaton went on to complete the race 38 times. He and Stan Bradshaw were the first two competitors so receive our 21-year award in 1977. As far as we know Stan is the oldest survivor from 1957. He's now well into his 90s and until recently he attended the race every year.

The race expanded rapidly in the 1970s and 1980s and numbers were capped at 500 entries. However, in the past two years we have been able to increase the entry with the result that we had around 700 starters in 2008 and 2009.

Of the present race committee the person whose involvement with the race stretches back the furthest is Dave Hodgson, who first took part in 1958 (and also completed the race 21 times). My own first race was in 1962.

On behalf of the 3 Peaks Race Association may I send our greetings to your father, together with our congratulations on his 1957 victory.

Regards Bill Wade (3 Peaks Race statistician and President of the 3 Peaks Race Association)

CLOTHING CUSTODIAN

Kath Brady has decided that she would like to relinquish the post of Clothing Custodian, with immediate effect. The Clothing Custodian’s main job to order, distribute and account for Club vests for new and current members. The Club also purchases and sells other items to its members; crop tops, T shirts, waterproof tops etc and the Clothing Custodian also looks after these. If any member would like to take on this important Committee role, please contact John (Chairman), Mike (Secretary), or Kath herself, who will be only too willing to explain in more detail what the role involves.

The Bob Graham Round – Thirty Years On

At 9.00 am on Saturday 24 th June 1979 I set off from the Moot Hall in Keswick with Stan Bradshaw Junior and Graham Wright (‘Lefty’ of Rossendale Harriers). We were (relatively) young, fit, had a good support team and, apart from the odd tumble, got round in reasonable style with an hour or so to spare.

Perhaps surprisingly, given the way things are today, it was the establishment of a support team which was our greatest problem. It may also surprise some people that prior to 1979 at least 20 Clayton members had completed the BG. This was many more than from any other single club and proof of Clayton’s pioneering background. We were in awe of these people who were generally looked upon as being superhuman and, to us at least, somewhat unapproachable. We had, however, helped out on successful rounds by Dave Cunningham and Ted Southworth the previous year and they were keen to help us.

In those days aspirant BG’ers were expected to serve an apprenticeship before attempting the round themselves; starting as ‘hod carrier’ then sometime later rising to the rank of ‘navigator’. But, we were impatient and looked for a way to shortcut the system. We had been doing long, category ‘A’ fell races for about two years and had built up quite a strong association with like-minded runners from Rossendale and Rochdale Harriers. Thus, these two clubs were to provide a significant part of our support team, and probably explains how Graham came to join us in our attempt. In fact it was quite a step for Rossendale as Graham was to be their first member to complete the BG.

It was probably the running boom which triggered the explosion in BG attempts in the ‘eighties’, but I would like to think that our success went some way to create the acceptance that a successful BG is not the preserve of the few, but can be achieved by most people who are prepared to apply themselves.

The ‘eighties’ and ‘nineties’ saw some significant achievements by Clayton members, not least those by Steve Parr and Brian Leathley. The ‘Clayton Machine’ was honed to perfection during this period and during the ‘eighties’ at least 30 Club members completed the BG. The number of successful rounds was reduced to 8 between 1990 and ’99, and so far the 21 st century has only seen a further 8. Hence, it was like a breath of fresh air when Simon Halliday declared his intentions two years ago, and a privilege for me to be involved, albeit in a very small way, in his winter BG round. It is so refreshing to see someone in the Club even thinking about taking on these huge undertakings, never mind succeeding in them, and demonstrating that the Club’s pioneering spirit is still alive. Let’s hope that Simon is successful in whatever project he undertakes next summer.

Whilst I reminisce about the ‘good old days’, I can only applaud the Club’s efforts in introducing a more structured approach to training and events. Clearly, this is the best way to develop and retain membership, and nurture new talent in a more inclusive way. On the other hand (with tongue only slightly in cheek!), there is something to be said for the ‘if you can’t keep up, you shouldn’t have joined’ approach in that those who do survive acquire a confidence which just might allow them to achieve goals they previously only dreamed of. Would Peter Browning have achieved his 19 hour BG if he hadn’t had to keep up with Stan Bradshaw over Great Knoutberry?

For the record, our support team in 1979 was as follows:- Clayton Members: Dave Cunningham Ted Southworth Colin Ramsbottom Anne-Marie Grindley Peter McNamarra

Rossendale Members: Derek Radcliffe Peter Hartley Ken Taylor

Rochdale Members: Tom Sykes Steve Tosh Darren Tosh

[Jon Sharples had planned a Bob Graham Round attempt on 7th/8th May, but was forced to postpone it owing to a knee injury. We wish Jon well for his round later this year.—Ed]

LYME DISEASE

This article is reproduced from the PhysioBench website: www.physiobench.com/ and was written by Jane Hodgson. Jane is a Chartered Physiotherapist and a member of Saddleworth Runners. Several of Jane’s fell running and orienteering acquaintances have been bitten by ticks and become infected by Lyme Disease. Jane is using knowledge gained through her work as a Chartered Physio to try to raise awareness of ticks and Lyme disease among the fell running community.

What is it? Lyme disease is a bacterial infection caused by the bacteria borrelia burgdorferi.

How do you get it? Nearly always it is caused by a bite from a tick which is carrying the disease.

Who’s at risk of getting Lyme Disease? Anyone who works or does sport in the countryside.

Ticks prefer to live in woods, heathland and moorland, so anyone moving through these areas could pick up a tick. Commonly, groups of people affected include: • Orienteers • Fell walkers • Fell Runners • Geocachers • Gamekeepers • Dog walkers • Fly Fishermen • Campers • Farmers

Is there a time of the year when I’m more likely to get bitten by a tick? Ticks are more active during the summer months, but you could get a tick bite at any time of the year. Ticks transfer onto humans and other animals by sitting on plants then moving onto a new host as it pushes through the undergrowth. Ticks can’t fly or jump, so the deeper the undergrowth, for instance tall bracken in the summer compared to dead bracken in the winter, the easier it is for the tick to transfer across.

What does a tick look like? Ticks are related to mites and spiders (see picture on front cover!) The smallest ticks may just look like a spot of dirt on your skin, or a dark freckle, but one that doesn’t come off in the shower!

I’ve never heard of Lyme disease before is it new? No the disease has been around for many years, but it is better recognised now.

What’s the treatment for Lyme disease? The old saying “prevention is better than cure” is a good one here. The first principle is to try to prevent your self from getting bitten by a tick: • Make it more difficult for ticks to get to your skin: Wear shoes not sandals and long trousers rather than shorts. Tuck your socks into your trousers • Consider clothing impregnated by a repellent such as permethrin or DEET • Check yourself after any activity that has taken you into an area where there may have been ticks: Don’t just check the areas of your skin that have been exposed. Once on you, a tick will crawl around and often latch on in a warm spot- perhaps in the crotch, armpit, or behind the knees. • Don’t assume that because you haven’t been bitten because you haven’t felt anything. Tick bites are generally painless. • Check pets as well. If your pet has picked up a tick, it can easily get passed on to you. If you find a tick on you remove it immediately.

Help I’ve found a tick on me! You need to remove it as quickly as possible, the longer the tick stays on you the more chance there is of it passing on any infection it is carrying. The tick will have its mouth parts embedded in your skin, so you need to make sure you remove all parts of the tick, and not make it regurgitate its stomach contents into you whilst doing so. The best way of removing a tick is to use a tick remover. These are available from pet shops, or online . Slide the hook of the tick remover between the tick and the skin and gently pull the tick off. If you’ve found a tick on you but don’t keep a tick remover in your first aid kit then you probably don’t want to order off the internet and wait for the post to arrive! – use a pair of tweezers instead, but be careful not to squeeze the ticks head or it may regurgitate its stomach contents into you. Then buy a tick remover for next time. • Do not cover the tick with Vaseline/ petroleum jelly • Do not attempt to burn it off Do not squeeze it

Does that mean I’m now going to get Lyme disease? No, the majority of people who are bitten by a tick won’t go on to get any symptoms. Remember the tick has to be carrying the infection itself in order to pass it on to you.

You do however need to keep an eye out for any symptoms which are diverse and variable but may include: • Bulls eye rash- a red rash that starts at the site of the tick bite and spreads outwards • Flu like symptoms • Joint pains • Muscle pains or weakness • Fatigue • Fever • Headache Lyme disease is systemic, which means it can affect almost any of the body systems. The incubation period for Lyme disease can be anything from 2 to 30 days after infection following a tick bite. So bear in mind that any symptoms within a month of the tick bite may be attributable to Lyme. If you do suffer any ill health within a month of a tick bite, mention it to your medical practitioner. Lyme is easier to treat if diagnosed early on.

Where can I read more about Lyme disease? http://www.bada-uk.org/ and Lyme Disease Action are UK based charities with websites that have in depth information.

BURNLEY MOUNTAINEERING CLUB

We currently have 6 CLEM members and at least 6 ex-members who are members of our club. It is a logical step as runners slow down or are injured we give the opportunity to access the mountains and walk or run at their own pace either by themselves or with other walkers. As long as the route book is filled in each individual can do their own thing including linear walks/runs; a change of clothes can be left on the coach. We can also put a link on our website burnleymountaineering.co.uk .

Apart from the monthly trip we also arrange weekends in Climbing huts and hostels etc, syllabus attached.

Tuesday Summer Training Venues

All members are welcome to take part in the Tuesday Summer Runs, which are on the fells. The usual arrangement is for three groups to run from each venue for between one and two hours, although this can vary according to numbers, weather and what members have done at the weekend.

If you are new to the Club/summer training runs/fell running, please make yourself known to a Committee member or group leader before the run and we will attempt to place you in the most appropriate group.

All members should ensure that they carry some emergency/extra clothing with them on the run: wind(water)-proof top, over trousers, hat and gloves. The weather can change very quickly on the fells. (It invariably snows on Pendle in April!) If you, or someone else in the group has an accident, you can very quickly become cold or hyperthermic, even on the most pleasant of evenings. It’s also a good idea to carry a drink and some emergency food (sweets, chocolate bar), in case you are out longer than you expect—it has been known for a group leader to get carried away occasionally.

Mark Nutter wins Pendle Witch Way 26 th April 2009

Report condensed from : 8 th May

What a sweety!

Fell runner Mark Nutter, of Newchurch, reckons that his fleet feet and trophy-winning ways are boosted by a traditional sweet loved by children all over. When the going gets tough, he says, there is nothing finer than a few jelly babies to put an extra spring in his step. And they must be Bassett’s! Last month, and for the second year running, the Clayton-le-Moors Harriers’ veteran won the 25-mile Pendle Witch Way Walk in three hours 42 minutes, taking 18 minutes off his winning time of the previous year. To prepare for Race, the previous weekend the 47-year-old went up to Scotland for the Highlander Mountain Marathon. It is a two-day event, which this year started at Strathfarrar, west of Inverness. Competitors were paired up, armed with a map and told to chart their own way around the mountain checkpoints! “It’s a challenging one as you have to carry your rucksack, tent, sleeping bag and enough food for two days, but fortunately equipment nowadays is lightweight,” 95 pairs entered the marathon, which is tackled in a number of different ways, and Mark and his partner (Rob Sherratt of Calder Valley) finished third in their section (score event). As well as a stock of jelly babies to keep up his sugar levels and water to stave off dehydration, he carries dried apricots and dates. Before a race, to give him extra stamina, he has a hearty helping of his special porridge – oats supplemented with his own mixture of ‘secret’ ingredients. The success of any fell race has much to do with the marshals who man the checkpoints. Mark said, “I massively enjoy fell racing, but no race would be possible without marshals. This year’s weather for the Pendle Race was very favourable for the competitors – and for the marshals, who have to stand at the checkpoints, including one on top of Pendle Hill, until everyone has safely gone through. They have water, sandwiches and pieces of cake ready for us. No event like this can take place without them – so a big thank-you to all of them.” Mark has been fell racing for around 25 years and has been a member of the famous club for around 20. He said, “I really enjoy fell racing. It is a wonderful sport. It keeps me fit and out of mischief.”

Well done, Mark—in both events. It’s interesting to observe how outsiders view fell racing. Eat porridge, jelly babies and dried fruit, drink water and take extra provisions from the marshals. Easy. Ed]

BMAF National Road Relays – Sutton Park Birmingham 16 th May.

It started with a phone call at lunchtime on Thursday, 14th May.

“Hi Pete. It’s John Are you doing anything special on Saturday? What’s your best recent 5K time?” “No...... About 19:20.” “Great. Mike Wallis and Steve Green are injured for the vets’ relays. You’re in. Minibus is leaving Seedhill at 7.00am on Saturday morning. Tell Aspy you’ll be there.”

And that’s all there was to it (actually, there was a bit more, but not much). So, at 7.00am on Saturday morning I found myself sitting with members of the 50s, 60s, 70s and ladies 45’s team, ready to set off for Birmingham, reflecting that 5 fell races (Coniston, Wray Caton Moor, Flower Scar, Pendle Cloughs and Mearley Clough) in the last 2 weeks were hardly the perfect preparation for a 3 mile leg of a road relay!

Just after midday, I was standing on the start line, waiting for Brian Horrocks to hand over to me – Colin Shuttleworth, Roger Brewster and Jeff Pickup had already run, putting us in about twelfth place. The previous runner (from Holmfirth) had set off about a minute ago and I couldn’t see anybody in the finishing straight behind Brian. Great – running in a ‘hole’.

Off I went, trying to set a fast pace (for me) but conscious of the long uphill at the start of the leg. Nearing the top of the climb, I caught a glimpse of the Holmfirth runner in front and felt I’d gained a little on him. Settling into a good rhythm along the flat, I was still unsure about my pace judgement, very much aware of an impending downhill section to a cone marking the half-way point, before having to retrace the route – uphill - back onto the main path. Hearing footfalls behind surprised me, but I thought I would tuck in behind, once I was caught, and get a ‘tow’. No chance. The Woodford Green/Essex Ladies man sped past me like a Ferrari overtaking a truck and went on to sweep past my Holmfirth rival on the way back up the hill, giving me hope of catching him too.

The next part of the course is a long straight, gradually downhill. I felt OK, but was still worrying about my pace, especially as a second competitor passed me as easily as the first had done. However, I was gradually ‘reeling in’ my Holmfirth rival and tried to dig in on the two small rises in the last half mile. As we turned the tight corner into the finishing straight, He caught sight of me and put in a final burst, to hand over about 5 seconds before I crossed the line to send John on his way.

John caught the Holmfirth runner on his leg and passed a couple more, to bring the team home in 10 th place, a bit disappointing, but we’d all done our best. Perusing the results a little later, I was pleased to see that I’d clocked 18:33, my best time for about 5 years – not bad for a fell runner.

Leg 1 Colin Shuttleworth 17:20 Leg 4 Brian Horrocks 17:30 Leg 2 Roger Brewster 17:26 Leg 5 Pete Booth 18:33 Leg 3 Jeff Pickup 19:07 Leg 6 John Roche 17:42 M60 & 70 Report

Many thanks first of all to Mike Wrigley for sorting the teams and to Mark Aspinall and Paul Toman for getting us safely there and back; and to Colin Shuttleworth for navigation.

The organisers had had to spend the morning with shovels and brushes clearing away the debris from the previous day's storms, especially down by Keepers' Pool.

The running order was decided and over 80 teams lined up for the start, with Ron and I near the back. However there was a pile up of F1 proportions after only 20m when at least 10 runners hit the tarmac, one not to continue and others bloody and bashed. We managed to tread on a few to gain an advantage then set off up the long hill. This is where you question the amount of hard training sessions you have done in the previous weeks and are found lacking. I thought I would stick with Reg Smallbone from BWF but that only lasted for a mile and a half, when I was dropped, but picked up by Helen from NSP who got me round to hand over to Barry, and Ron to Laurie Chew. I'd finished 26th and Ron 4th. The M70s could be in with a chance here.

Barry passed 14 and Laurie closed up on the first three, so that on the glory leg Ted was able to pass RSC and bring us home in bronze medal place, with the second fastest time of the day. Dave likewise gaining a place to finish 11th Well done everyone. RL

15 members were in attendance.

The main item on the Agenda was discussion of Peter Thompson’s Health & Safety advice re summer and winter training, both for members and leaders of training groups. As we moved from general discussion to a detailed examination of the draft advice, there was agreement that it would be better for this to be done by a sub-committee and for the detailed proposals to be brought back to the Committee at a later date.

There were no applications for membership or resignations.

Date of Next Meeting: 7.00pm Monday 6th June at the Whitakers Arms, Accrington.

Chipping Show Fell Race

Saturday 22nd August Club Fell Championship Counter Members may be aware that there have been some difficulties with races in the Fiendsdale area this year—mainly the landowner imposing limits on numbers for Fiendsdale & Paddy’s Pole Races. The organiser of the Chipping Show FR has informed me that there is no limit on numbers for this race. Therefore, we can use it as a Club Championship counter. We chose it because not only is it a good race, but also a great family day out at the show. Enjoy!
