The County's Small Business Grant Program will provide $10,000 in grant money to small businesses located in Orange County to help offset lost revenue due to COVID-19, and the Individual and Family Assistance Program for residents will provide a one-time payment of $1,000 per household to bridge financial gaps for overdue rent, mortgage, medical or an eligible utility expense. Applications for businesses and individuals will open on Monday, June 8. • The Downtown Development Board approved an amendment to its existing Special Event Funding program. The program will now provide up to $3,000 to qualifying downtown businesses to support reopening marketing efforts. • Seminole County has announced more details of a grant program designed to aid small businesses struggling amid the economic downturn caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Under the program, which launches on June 1, small businesses in Seminole County can receive up to $5,000 in aid. • Orange County Government will distribute reusable cloth masks to small businesses on June 4 & 5. Businesses must register and schedule an appointment. • The Orange County Economic Recovery Task Force announced seven guidelines for reopening businesses and industries in the Orlando region. Orange County has also developed re-opening criteria for restaurants in unincorporated Orange County. • Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer announced a package of actions that are effective immediately in the City of Orlando, providing opportunities for businesses to temporarily expand their operational space and market their businesses outside, without the need to obtain city permits or pay any fees. • Governor Ron DeSantis extended the state's moratorium on evictions and foreclosures to Wednesday, July 1. • In order to help residents navigate tenant rights, evictions and other housing assistance information for COVID-19, Orange County has put together a list of answers to frequently asked questions on these topics. • Now through September 1, patrons can enjoy FREE parking in metered street spaces and inside specific City of Orlando garages, while dining and shopping in Downtown Orlando. • Electronic Arts has signed a multiyear renewal with the NFL and the NFL Players Association that will see the game publisher continue the Madden NFL franchise and also work more closely with the league and players to grow football fandom. • The National Women’s Soccer League announced the full schedule for the preliminary rounds of the 2020 NWSL Challenge Cup presented by P&G and Secret. The 25-game tournament will kick off on June 27 in Utah. • The Orlando Pride will face the , Portland Thorns, and Sky Blue FC in the preliminary rounds after drawing the nine-seed for the 2020 NWSL Challenge Cup. Kickoff times and broadcast details for specific matches will be announced at a later date. • The NBA is planning a Thursday vote of the league's board of governors - with owners expected to approve Commissioner Adam Silver's recommendation on a format to restart the season in Orlando, sources tell ESPN. • Major League Baseball and the MLBPA are now in their fourth week of talks concerning a return-to-play plan for a potential 2020 season. After some heated discussions last month, it appears the two sides are getting closer to a deal. • The commissioners of the Power 5 conferences have sent a letter to congressional leaders asking for federal legislation to govern pay for college athletes. The letter, signed by the commissioners of the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac- 12, and SEC, outlines the NCAA’s priorities for name, image and likeness compensation while also requesting an anti-trust exemption and a national law. • What is the GBAC Star Facility Accreditation and why is it important?
