The district is diverse in terrain as well as ethnicity. Places like Buxa Tiger Reserve , Jaldapara National Park , Jayanti Hills , Buxa Fort have always drawn the attention of tourists from different corner to this beautiful place. The district has also many rivers like Torsha, Holong , Mujnai , Rydak , Kaljani , Sankosh to name a few . The presence of many rivers makes the district a possible victim of floods during the monsoons every year .The year 1993 is notable as it was in this year that the district was ravaged by severe floods. Recently, in the last year also the district experienced a severe flash flood due to abnormal rainfall. According to the severity and intensity, last year’s flood is second to ’93 flood. The presence of rivers coming from the foothills of Bhutan also pose a great threat in the form of flash floods. The unpredictability of flash floods makes them a dangerous adversary. “Prevention is better than cure.” This proverb is none better suited than in the area of Disaster Management litigation.
