Blashill has accumulated six seasons with the organization, spending the 2011-12 seasonas an assistant coach for Detroit before serving as head coach of the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins from 2012-15. He led the Griffins to the most successful three-year run in franchise history, capped off with a championship in 2013. Blashill is the 27th head coach in franchise history.
