Fred Couples
PRE-TOURNAMENT INTERVIEW June 23, 2021 FRED COUPLES Q. We'll just start with How does it feel to be Here this week? FRED COUPLES: It feels great. Love the course. It's probably our best event. The winner gets to play in THE PLAYERS Championship, but when you win on a course like this, you've played some pretty good golf. It's nice to be here. At home, everyone's shocked that when I tell them I'm going to Akron. They don't even realize that the Tour players don't play here anymore and that the old guys play here, so it's kind of funny. But we're lucky to be here thanks to Bridgestone and the local charities. You know, it's one of my favorite places. Q. You've really been on a roll this year. FRED COUPLES: Well, yeah, I was on a roll a couple weeks ago and bogeyed the last hole to lose to Jerry Kelly, but I played very well. And I played in Des Moines before that and way back, I don't even know when it was, in April I was in the last group in Naples and there were a couple really, really good scores the last round and I had kind of a so-so last day. But I mean, on a roll, yeah. I'd like to win, but I'm playing pretty well and this is a course that is four rounds, which I think is fun for a lot -- fun for all of us. -
Phil Mickelson ( -10)
ROUND 1 INTERVIEW August 24, 2020 PHIL MICKELSON ( -10) Q. Here with Phil Mickelson. Phil, a lot of anticipation starting the day. Walk us through going to that first tee making your debut on the PGA TOUR Champions. PHIL MICKELSON: It's a lot of fun. It is a fun environment and it's fun for me to see a lot of the guys that I grew up watching play and played with for a number of years on the PGA TOUR, played Ryder Cups and Presidents Cups with a lot of the guys here. So the atmosphere, environment here is really cool for me to be a part of. I was a little nervous, too, because I wanted to come out and play well, and I felt like I was playing really well, Billy Ray. I went into Boston last week, I shot 61-63, 4 back home and I was like ready to play. Then I get there and I shoot 3 over and it just threw me off. So I wanted to keep playing because I felt like I was playing well. So to have the opportunity to play in these events and this one in particular was really special and I'm very appreciative of that. Q. You talk about nerVes. You come in here as the faVorite. Were you more relaxed or more nerVous because you came in the odds faVorite here? PHIL MICKELSON: I didn't think about that. I just was trying to figure out a way to play this golf course smartly because although there's no rough, it's fairway and it's junk. -

DAVID AHLQUIST, M.D., Mayo Clinic KEVIN CONROY, Cologuard JERRY KELLY TOM LEHMAN March 1, 2018 STEWART MOORE: My name is Stuart Moore, I'm senior director of communications at the PGA TOUR. I will be the MC for today's press conference. Joining me up here on stage, we have Kevin Conroy, the chairman and CEO of Exact Sciences; Dr. David Ahlquist, gastroenterologist for the Mayo Clinic; Tom Lehman, our defending champion this week here at the Cologuard Classic; and Jerry Kelly, reigning PGA TOUR champion, Rookie of the Year and Cologuard ambassador. When we made this announcement to bring Exact Sciences and Cologuard on board here in Tucson last November, part of the speech that was given was talking about what makes for a great golf tournament, PGA TOUR, PGA TOUR Champions. Certainly, many ingredients. Obviously you have to have a wonderful host organization and we have that here with the Conquistadores at a fantastic golf course. I think it goes without saying that the Omni Tucson National Resort, specifically the Catalina course, is one of the best that we see all year. A great community. Obviously Tucson has had an active community with the PGA TOUR for a number of years and now for four years and counting with PGA TOUR Champions. The players, if you don't have the players, you don't have a golf tournament. But really, if you don't have a title sponsor, you don't have a golf tournament, and I think when you look across the scope of title sponsors on the PGA TOUR, a lot of these companies, these Fortune 500 level companies get involved from an entertainment and a charity aspect.
