Adventures of the Amazing Revelators
The Adventures of the Amazing Revelators "I don't see this as a greatest hits recording, more an opportunity to pay homage to some of the great writers of our time. The Revelators were formed out of a desire to keep this music alive. Some of these songs have been with us for some time - others we were drawn to because of their charm.... and every word is true." Joe Camilleri These were the words that graced The Revelators' 1991 debut CD release. 'Debut' is an odd word to use for a group of musicians who have been an integral part of the Australian music scene for so long. The Revelators The Revelators story started in the late 80's when Joe Camilleri, along with friends James Black and Joe Creighton, took to the stage as 'The Delta Revelators' . Their desire was to blow out the serious days' work with people who shared the same interest in music and who simply wanted to play it. On stage with Pete Luscombe on drums (Black Sorrows, Paul Kelly, Rebecca's Empire) and Jeff Burstin on guitar (Black Sorrows, Vika & Linda) the word spread that this was a great band. Soon the occasional gig was not enough to keep the punters happy. Regular sessions at ID's (now The Continental) and The Botanical Hotel had the fans asking 'When are you going to do a CD?' 'Amazing Stories' 'Amazing Stories' was released in 1991 and everyone in the band agreed it was the best album they had ever made. The fans felt the same and the CD is still eagerly sought after by roots music aficionados. -
Rock Is Life
Rock Is Life http://www.rock-is-life.com/reviewsinbrief.htm Reviews In Brief (2007) (2006) (2005) (2004) 2007 STARZ Greatest Hits Live MVD Entertainment Group 2007 "The live collection of the 70’s rockers greatest hits seems to capture the band in fine form. The CD is compiled from at least 3 different performances and while I found the sound to be adequate to mediocre, the quality of their material does seem to shine through. While I wouldn’t put the band in my own personal Top 10 of 1970’s rockers, they are pretty good. I think it is a shame I wasn’t musically aware in the 70’s because I probably would have liked the band. They’ve got a lively and energetic sound tied to that particular era and it does keep the ears engaged, even during the first half of the disc where the quality of the recording isn’t even as good as some bootlegs I’ve listened to over the years. The audio quality is the biggest problem I had with the entire disc. I think if you are going to reissue this type of album, you really need to make the sound more Official Site presentable than what a typical bootlegger could accomplish. You want to check out tracks like “Detroit Girls”, “Any Way That You Want It”, and “Cherry Baby” in particular, but surprisingly at least to me, each song is pretty good. Search Amazon: If you like the 70’s rock era, you probably know of the band. You’ll definitely like this release. -

Biography 2002
THE BLACK SORROWS Biography 2002 Joe Camilleri is an Australian legend who has given his life to music. In the mid 80s following the success of his first band, Jo Jo Zep and The Falcons, Joe Camilleri gathered together a group of musician friends and dubbed them The Black Sorrows. The band began playing for the fun of it, recording independent albums and selling them out of the boot of his car. When radio picked up the classic track, 'Mystified',The Black Sorrows really took flight. They signed to CBS and proceeded to release some of Australia's most successful albums including the multi-platinum sellers Hold On To Me, Harley & Rose and The Chosen Ones. Over the past fifteen years, The Black Sorrows have toured Australia more times than anyone can remember, played sell out shows across Europe, won the ARIA for 'Best Band' and sold more than a million albums world-wide. Joe Camilleri's songs have become part of our lives. The Sorrows' string of hits is seemingly endless: Dear Children, Country Girls, Snake Skin Shoes, Harley & Rose, The Chosen Ones, Mystified, Ain't Love The Strangest Thing, Better Times, Never Let Me Go, Chained To The Wheel, Daughters of Glory, Stir It Up, New Craze... and he's certainly not done yet. Look around the world and you have to put Joe in the same company as people like Eric Clapton and Van Morrison - legends, performers whose careers span decades, transcending all styles and fads, performers who are loved for the fact that they're obviously in it for the music. -

2012 Grey Skies Over Melbourne Grand Final Week 2012 This Was
2012 Grey skies over Melbourne Grand Final Week 2012 This was never going to be an ordinary Melbourne week. After all this one has a name— Grand Final Week. The name refers of course to the deciding match of the Australian Football League (AFL) season. The Grand Final, traditionally played on the last Saturday in September, is the most well attended and widely broadcast climax to the seasons of the nation’s various football codes. But it is much more than a single game of football. As the name suggests Grand Final Week is an extended celebration of the AFL code and its role as the winter heartbeat of Australia’s most renowned sporting city. It is a week in which—usually—little else cuts through the Melbourne news cycle. The story of Grand Final Week 2012 took shape as the two finalists, Melbourne’s Hawthorn (Hawks) and the Sydney-based Swans, were decided by matches played on the Friday and Saturday of the previous weekend. Between the playing of these two Preliminary Finals, however, another event occurred that would dominate the news and push the Grand Final from the front pages in the AFL’s showcase week. A woman disappeared from the streets of Melbourne. This story has a second beginning. In late 1997 Melbourne-based folk-rock group Weddings Parties Anything released their final studio album, River’esque. The collection included ”For a Short Time”, a song that became a regular addition to their live shows up until they played the final gig of their “break up” tour in Perth in January 1999. -

Paul Mccartney, 1980-1999
Paul McCartney from Wings through the 90's McCartney II Columbia FC‐36511 May 21, 1980 About ten years after recording McCartney by himself, Paul got several songs together and recorded them‐‐again alone‐‐on somewhat of a lark. Then Paul embarked on his ill‐fated 1980 tour of Japan (which resulted in his being jailed for drug possession). After returning to the safety of his own home, he was urged to release the album, and he did. The album contrasts well with McCartney, for this second production contains numerous instruments and electronic tricks that were not present on the 1970 release. Side One is particularly interesting. The solo version of "Coming Up" is followed by the fun track, "Temporary Secretary" (released as a single in England). The almost‐lament, "On the Way," is then succeeded by "Waterfalls," Paul's second (US) single from the album. "Bogey Music," from Side Two, is also a standout. John Lennon heard a song from McCartney II and thought that Paul sounded sad. When the album was released in the US, a bonus one‐sided single ‐‐ the hit version of "Coming Up"‐‐was included with the LP. This hit was enough to propel the album to the #3 position on the charts, during a time when disco was now on the wane. "Waterfalls" Columbia 1‐11335 Jul. 22, 1980 The lovely ballad about protectiveness was one of the standouts from McCartney II. After "Coming Up," it received the most airplay and the most positive response from Paul's friends. As a single, though, the song fared poorly, only reaching #83...one of Paul's worst showings to date. -
