Engen Supports Mauritian NGO

To ensure that food kit distribution continues to reach homeless and distressed families, Engen has partnered with the M-Kids Organization Youth Council, to donate free fuel. The association has till date assisted 300 families and delivered 1,500 food packs. “Plans are also underway to provide fuel to aid FoodWise, which consolidates donations received from numerous food distribution channels and redistributes the food to 80 NGOs working in the field,” stated Managing Director of Engen in Mauritius, Jean Pierre Payet. “This week Engen donated Rs12,000 worth of fuel and we plan to continue our show of support and commitment over the coming weeks,” said Payet. At all fuel service stations and convenience stores, Engen has also prioritized hygiene measure as well as the provision of safety materials, including sanitizers, gloves and masks to all of dedicated Engen fuel service station and Quickshop staff. “We’re also working with our partners to source food kits for Seeking to reach vulnerable communities during national our staff,” said Payet.“ We are grateful to our government lockdown, Engen, as a company that cares deeply about the and humbled by the work of the many NGO’s, businesses and communities in which it operates, is supporting Mauritian individuals who have all pulled together in an effort to combat NGO efforts. this outbreak.” 07042020

Most Market Events Postponed or Cancelled

A key feature of the current coronavirus as it moved from China to Europe, was how it affected business travel and events. While some organisers were slower than others, most events were postponed to the 3rd or 4th quarter of 2020. In the case of the key European Expo Uniti event, this has been postponed to February 2021. For such a large event, this was the correct decision. I believe most 3rd quarter events will not be held. Even after the coronavirus has flattened out, there will be the unknown factor of a second wave. Also most travellers will be initially hesitant to travel and place safety first. This will likely lead to a busy 4th quarter.

PW events made the decision at the end of February to move their PW Summit Singapore event from June to November 10th – 11th November 2020. This will be reviewed again in June to ensure event safety, quality and success. See also our feature article on the Coronavirus page 6. 042020
