COMMUNITY & RECREATION CEMETERIES—HEADSTONE APPLICATION CRITERIA APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS To erect a headstone in Dubbo Regional Council (DRC) cemeteries an application is submitted to Council using the online submission portal of Council website (www.dubbo.nsw.gov.au). Private works carried out within DRC cemeteries are to comply with the following : Conform to Council’s Headstone Measurements and Guidelines, as applicable. Headstones are to be constructed from durable materials such as stone, concrete, brick and metal. Non-durable or fragile materials such as soft woods, certain types of plastic, fiberglass and glass are not permitted. All work must be carried out in a tradesman like manner. A Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS) is to be submitted with each application. A Certificate of Currency Public Liability Insurance must also accompany all applications with a minimum indemnity limit of $20M . ALL MEASUREMENTS SIZES ARE IN MILLIMETRES AND ARE THE MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE Dimensions for a single headstone are: Dimensions for a double headstone are: Width: 1050mm Width: 1800mm Height (including plinth): 600mm Height (including plinth): 600mm Depth: 450mm Depth: 450mm PLEASE NOTE: HEADSTONES MUST SIT BACK 200mm FROM FRONT OF CONCRETE BEAM TO ALLOW MAINTENANCE OF GRAVES. COMMUNITY & RECREATION CEMETERIES—HEADSTONE APPLICATION CRITERIA (CONTINUED) HEADSTONE REQUIREMENTS FOR WELLINGTON AND VILLAGE CEMETERIES Cemetery Headstones Inscription as required Width of plot 1.2192 metres (4 feet) Grave in next row Height of headstone .9144 metre Maximum headstone width is 1.0668 45.7cm—half base depth allowing for room between headstone adjoining WORK HEALTH & SAFETY The following Work Health & Safety regulations are to be followed whilst undertaking work within the cemetery: Appropriate signage erected to notify people of your work space. Personal Protection Equipment to be worn whilst carrying out work at the cemetery. The work shall not interfere with the rights of visitors to the cemetery or gardens. The work shall not encroach onto adjoining sites—i.e. it will be limited and contained to the site as described in the application approval. The work site must be kept neat, tidy and safe at all times. Contractors or workers must not allow accessways to be obstructed by materials, tools, or plant etc. All debris, rubbish, materials, tools etc must be removed from the site AND the cemetery at the end of each working shift. Work not conforming to the conditions of the approval may be removed without notice. MONUMENT MASON OBLIGATIONS The Monument Mason’s obligations include, without limitation, the following: Where any person, vehicle, plant, equipment, or activity is required to be licensed, registered, approved or accredited the Contractor must ensure that the appropriate licence, registration, approval or accreditation is in force and current at all times during the performance of the Services. Irrespective of who performs the Services, the Contractor must ensure the Services are performed in a safe manner and in accordance with all relevant legislation and Codes of Practice, including but not limited to the: Dubbo.nsw.gov.au Protection of Environment Operations Act 1997; Environmentally Hazardous Chemicals Act 1995; Environmentally Hazardous Chemicals Amendment Act 1996; Fb.com/DubboRegionalCouncil Local Government Act 1993; NSW Work Health and Safety Act 2011; (02) 6801 4000 Workers Compensation Act 1987. WORK SUBJECT TO THE HERITAGE ACT Cnr Church & Darling Streets, Dubbo Cnr Nanima Crescent & Warne Graves and monuments older than fifty years are subject to the Heritage Street, Wellington Act.
