But when they both fall for the same handsome artist (Boyd Holbrook) and Lily starts seeing him in secret, a lifelong friendship is tested. With Demi Moore, Richard Dreyfuss, Ellen Barkin, Peter Sarsgaard, and Clark Gregg, and featuring new music by Rilo Kiley's Jenny Lewis. DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT In the end, it’s always about family. We drag them along with us. Often without knowing. Good and bad. And then comes the moment when it dawns on us to take a look at the load. We can put it down, or carry it for the rest of our lives. If our parents love us, they encourage us to put it down. They own their mistakes. They wish for us to surpass them. To be free. And that sets the stage for our lives to begin. Complete with the magic of sex and adventure and risk taking. The highs and lows of our own making. The truth setting us free. This is the summer that Gerri and Lilly learn all this.

The Tim Ferriss Show Transcripts Episode 10: Brian Koppelman Show notes and links at tim.blog/podcast Tim Ferriss: Welcome, Ladies and Gentlemen, to another episode of The Tim Ferriss Show. It was going to be The Tim Ferris Experience, but then Joe Rogan would think I was copying him, so it sounds even more egotistical, but it is The Tim Ferriss Show. The guest we have with us today is Brian Koppelman. Brian, how are you? Brian Koppelman: I’m great, man. Just great. So pleased to be here talking to you. Tim Ferriss: Yeah, it’s been a while. I’m very excited to reconnect. I’ve been thinking a lot about your craft. I follow you on Twitter. Some of your exchanges are hilarious. It’s kind of like half screenwriting, half Knicks, I would say. Brian Koppelman: I trial to dial back. I think most people who are engaging with me on Twitter probably want to talk about creativity in some way. And then there’s this fanatical core of the people who were with me at the beginning who were there partially because I wrote about and talked about the Knicks a lot. So I try to warn people if there’s going to be a Knicks rant for the next little while, so stay away. But I think it’s probably now like 90 percent about creativity and 10 percent about the Knicks. Tim Ferriss: No, you need to support the core, the people who were there in the beginning. So we met quite a few years ago, I would say at this point.

  • No Matter What Your Age Or Your Life Path, Whether
"No matter what your age or your life path, whether making art is your career or your hobby or your dream, it is not too late or too egotistical or too selfish or too silly to work on your creativity." -- Julia Cameron Brian Koppelman's career as a filmmaker is like his first movie; Rounders. He wins with good hands. He loses with bad hands. He loses with good hands too. He bellies up to the table, gets a break, and shows up the next day. Life, wrote Scott Adams, is like "A reverse casino. In a casino, if you gamble long enough, you're certainly going to lose. But in the real world, where the only thing you're gambling is, say, your time or your embarrassment, then the more stuff you do, the more you give luck a chance to find you." Koppelman was the guy that studied poker odds and won a big pot. He worked on Rounders, Knockaround Guys, and The Illusionist. Then he lost or broke even on a bunch of hands. In a sense that's all that could have happened when you finish a movie like Oceans 13 which starred Matt Damon, Brad Pitt, and George Clooney. When Runner Runner came out, Koppelman told his friends not to see it. When his role on the television show Vinyl fell through he was gobsmacked. When he gets stuck writing Solitary Man he gets really stuck. Then, he starts Six Second Screenwriting Lessons on Vine. He starts podcasting. He starts writing Billions. Koppelman's film career mirrors a successful poker career.

  • Michael Douglas Biography
UNDER THE HONORARY PRESIDENCY OF H.S.H. PRINCE ALBERT II OF MONACO MICHAEL DOUGLAS BIOGRAPHY An actor with fifty years of experience in theatre, film and television, Michael Douglas branched out into independent feature production in 1975 with the Academy Award-winning One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975). Since then, as a producer and as an actor-producer, he has shown an uncanny knack for choosing projects that reflect changing trends and public concerns. Over the years, he has been involved in such controversial and politically influential motion pictures as One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, The China Syndrome (1979) and Traffic (2000), as well as such popular films as Romancing the Stone (1984) and Fatal Attraction (1987). The son of Kirk and Diana Douglas, Michael was born in New Jersey. He attended the elite preparatory Choate School and spent his summers with his father on movie sets. Although accepted at Yale, Douglas attended the University of California, Santa Barbara. After receiving his B.A. degree in 1968, Douglas moved to New York City to continue his dramatic training, studying at the American Place Theatre with Wynn Handman and at the Neighborhood Playhouse, where he appeared in workshop productions of Luigi Pirandello's Six Characters in Search of an Author and Thornton Wilder's Happy Journey. A few months after he arrived in New York, Douglas got his first big break when he was cast in the pivotal role of the free-spirited scientist who compromises his liberal views to accept a lucrative job with a high-tech chemical corporation in the CBS Playhouse production of Ellen M.
