  • The Pilgrim of Castile, Or El Pelegrino in Su Patria by Lope De Vega, Translated and Abridged by William Dutton Published 1621 the First Book
The Pilgrim of Castile, or El Pelegrino in Su Patria by Lope de Vega, translated and abridged by William Dutton published 1621 The First Book Upon the shore of Barcelona, between the planks of a ship which had suffered wreck, there appeared as if it had been a parcel of cloth covered with weed: which being perceived by some fishermen, they took it into their bark, and carried it along the shore about the space of two miles, where under the shade of some trees, they cleaned away the weeds and mud, and found that it was a man in a trance, who was almost past sense, and without life. These fishers, moved with compassion, kindled a fire with some branches cut from an old oak, and he who had been so near the losing of his life, now recovering it, let them know what countryman he was, by his complaint: discovered his admiration by his looks; and the feeling he had of the good which they had done him, by the fire with which he had to acknowledge it. Nature, doing the accustomed office of a pitiful mother, sent his blood to restore the more enfeebled parts; and having brought him almost to his former strength, he was about to have revealed himself: but thinking it did not fit in so strange a fortune, he concealed his birth and name, only saying that his ship suffered wreck in the sea, and seizing of these planks which the waves had cast upon the shore, he was two days floating amongst the billows of the sea, who sometimes merciful and then again cruel, did bring him nearer and then farther from the land, until such time that the reflux of the water vanquishing the impetuosity of the tempest, he was cast upon the sands, where the violence of the stroke having as it were ploughed up his tomb, he thought himself buried.

  • An Inflow-Boundary-Based Navier-Stokes Wave Tank
An inflow-boundary-based Navier-Stokes wave tank: verification and validation for waves propagating over flat and inclined bottoms Shaswat Sainchery and Jyotirmay Banerjeey∗ yMechanical Engineering Department, S.V. National Institute of Technology, Surat, 395 007, India Development of mass-source function based numerical wave tank (NWT) algorithms in the Navier-Stokes (NSE) framework is impeded by multiple design issues such as: (a) optimization of a number of variables characterizing the source region, (b) wave-vorticity interactions and (c) a mandatory requirement of mod- eling the domain on both sides of the wavemaker. In this paper, we circumvent these hurdles by proposing a volume-preserving inflow-boundary based Navier-Stokes wave tank. Wave generation and propagation is modeled in a two-phase PLIC-VOF set-up. Near-exact volume preservation is achieved (at arbitrarily large steepness) using kinematic stretching that is aimed towards balancing the streamwise momentum between points lying above and below the still water level. Numerical damping of steep waves is prevented by us- ing blended third-order and limiter schemes for momentum advection. In addition, a mesh stair-stepping strategy has been adopted for modeling non-Cartesian immersed boundaries on a staggered variable arrange- ment. The proposed NWT model is rigorously benchmarked against various wave-propagation scenarios. These include the simulation of: (a) monochromatic waves of various steepnesses, (b) monochromatic waves superimposed with free harmonics, (c) irregular waves in deep water and (d) wave transformation occurring over a submerged trapezoidal bar. Excellent agreement with analytical, numerical and experimental data is reported with both validation as well as verification of the proposed NWT model being established.

  • Backspacer (2009) Antologia Di Recensioni

Wenceslau de Moraes’ vision of Japan Predicting that European civilisation had entered a period of decadence, Wenceslau de Moraes felt that the European way of life had lost its funda- mental sense of life and soul. Therefore, he decided to abandon everything and go see if the Oriental way of life was better suited to resolve the prin- cipal problem of happiness. In Japan, he came into contact with religions, philosophies and arts in general that viewed problems of life and death, the individual and the universe in new and more mature terms. The impact generated by this discovery of the Other, i.e. the Japanese people, with an entire system of singular values that were radically different led to an exaggerated valorisation of these elements, when contrasted with those he knew prior to this. His contemplation of everything that was differ- ent and fascinating, on account of being inaccessible, resulted in a constant attempt to delight in the Other as a supreme experience in relation to all other possible experiences.

  • Backspacer Brani Commentati Dai PJ
L'ho ascoltata subito a volume alto, senza disturbare i vicini.
