Ada duatokohutamadalam novel tersebut, yaitu Travis Parker dan Gabby Holland.Setiaptokohmemilikikarakterdanperanberbeda.Dalampenulisankertaskary ainipenulismencantumkanperanpendukung (Supporting Character), namunkertaskaryainitetapmenarikuntukdibacakarenamengandungmaknacintadanp erjuangancintake Gabby yang terdapatdalam novel tersebut. Travis adalahseorangdokterhewan di kotakecil Beaufort yang mencintaiseorangwanitabernama Gabby. Awalperkenalanmerekatidakberjalandenganlancar, namunterjadisesuatuhal yang mengharuskan Gabby untukberhubungandengan Travis, menyangkutprofesi Travis sebagaidokterhewan.Travis mencobauntukmendapat gabby, tapiusaha Travis tidakberhasil.Akhirnya Travis mengatakancintanyake Gabby dan Gabby menerimacintanya .Dan merekamenikahdanpunyaduaanak.Diamengorbankandanmemberiperhatian demi diadandiaberhasilmendapatkanhati Gabby.Dalampenulisankertaskaryaini, penulismenggunakanmetodeperpustakaandanpendekatanintrinsik.Semua data dikumpulkanolehpenulis, diklasifikasikan, danakhirnyadisimpulkan.Semogadenganadanyakertaskaryaini, parapembacadapatmengertiunsurdalam novel khususnyatokohutama, Travis Parker sertamaknacintadanperjuangancinta yang di gambarkanolehtokohtersebut. UNIVERSITAS SUMATERA UTARA ABSTRACT This paper is entitled: The Description of Travis Love Which Leading to Marriage. There are two characters in the novel, namely: Travis Parker and Gabby Holland. Each character has different characters and roles. In writing this paper the writer use include a supporting character, but this paper is still interesting to read because it implies the meaning of true love in the novel. Travis is a vet in a small town Beaufort who loves a woman named Gabby. The beginning of their introduction did not run smoothly. Travis spending time with Gabby. Travis trying to approach Gabby but effort Travis always didn’t work. Finally, Travis said love to her and she accept his love. Then they married and have 2 children. He sacrificed and give a concern for the sake of her. In writing this paper, the writer used the method of library and intrinsic approach. All data had collected by the writer, classified, and finally concluded. Hopefully, by this paper the readers can understand the elements of novel especially the main characters and the struggle of love which is described by the main characters. The pessimistic opinion would have looked at it as imaginative realm that cannot be studied at all. Literature can only be enjoyed for it tends to offer subjective element rather than objective one. Yet, the rest are more optimistic tovalue literature as a kind of knowledge then can be studied objectively. Ithas its medium language which is materially systematic. Therefore,literature is broadly applicable knowledge which is both subjective andrealistic. Literature consists of three genres, namely poetry, drama, and prose. Poetry is meaningful arrangement of words. Drama is a story which isintended to be performed on the stage. Prose is fictitious narrative kindof writing. They have much in common but different in expressing idea,style and others. Henry (1995:2) classify prose into two,fiction and non-fiction prose.
