Seun Ladipo Lifestyle Editor It was about three days into break when it first happened. I had nothing to do and as Rose-Hulman breaks are all of my friends were at their respective schools as their break would begin as ours ended. I de- cided to go onto Netflix and find something to watch. Little did I know that this was the decision that would spiral into what has molded my life for the past two weeks. While looking for something to watch I scrolled into the section of movies that I had began but hadn't finished. In this section I found the controversial documentary “What The Health”. I decided to watch it and what the second half because I had nothing better to do. WFrom watching the first half I thought that this was essentially a “Food inc.”or “Supersize Me” clone talking about the dangers of pro- cessed foods and how everything we eat is essentially poison. I was cor- rect about this assumption although there was definitely a second half to this argument of which I had not seen. This solution was revealed to me in the second half of the movie. Long story short, I watched the movie and it was slowly revealed to me that If I switched to a plant based or Vegan diet I would be able to not only decrease my chance of heart disease, but increase the strength of my joints and lose fat on my body. Skeptical and bored I de- People who eat meat be like: Mmmmm….. bacon cided to do some research about these matters For those who do not know a plant based Vegan diet consists of only plant based foods so Photos Courtesy of cuteoverload.com that restricts any form of meat, fish, dairy, or egg from consumption. I did realize that I began to wake up much easier I began my new diet and after a few days the only change I felt and I had no need or want to nap throughout the day. I could survive was to tell everyone about my new lifestyle choice and how they should and function efficiently off of much less sleep than usually needed. I also found the ability to talk to plants and animals as plants respected me and animals no longer saw me as a threat. Along with this I also found that I would eat much more food as meat is very dense in energy and would fill me up much faster than a typical vegan meal although this wasn't too much of a problem as I was consuming much less calories on average allowing me to still effectively maintain or lose weight. With this I also gained the power to levitate as oxygen flowed through my body at 6000% the rate of the normal hu- man body letting my body whisk away thorough the wind. You may make fun of vegans but they are quite powerful people. When I was exercising for the first time after a week of eating no meat I will admit I was definitely not expecting to be as strong or be able to run as fast as my body had run off at least 20-40% meat for the past 20 years butt I did not see a significant change in this aspect of my life. I was able to lift as before although instead of drinking a typical protein shake I had to eat grass as my main source of protein. Every day I graze on the Intermural fields for four to six hours after I workout and then I eat a can of beans, my real source of protein, because eating grass is gross. In all I have learned many things about this new change in my life. In this first week I learned that I must focus on the food as the main aspect of the food rather than the meat and that even though I may be a vegan I can definitely still eat an entire bag of chips and hate myself for it. I have also learned about the limits of the human body and what can be accomplished without meat as I have also as of writing this paper reached my second week of being a Vegan and can now see 5 primary colors. As I have not decided whether this is a permanent change or not I will continue to document my journey In the Thorn, from time to time, so return to the lifestyle page for some knowledge and insight into the mind of an anointed Vegan. Queer Eye The Makeover Show You Didn’t Know You Needed

Although the five members of the Fab Five have changed with this new Netflix reboot, the concept stays exactly the same. Each member of the new fab five focuses on im- proving the straight guy's life in their own unique way. In the new cast Bobby Berk is the design expert and leads the charge in renovating the straight man’s living situation with nice deco- ration and great functionality. You can basically think of Bobby’s role as one of the HGTV renovation shows. Antoni Porowski is the food expert that works with the straight guy to help him find dishes that he can easily make both to impress po- tential dates as well as to just improve their overall health. Tan France might have the most impact on the way most people view the straight guy because he is the one that comes in and helps them understand clothing. Tan France is all about getting guys to wear clothes that actually fit them and work with their body type. A majority of our student body could definitely use help in this area particularly. Jonathan Van Ness quickly became my favorite of the fab five as the member of the team dedicated to grooming and self-care. Johnathan is by far the most bubbly and outgoing member of the team. This is the man that convinced me that I should buy a male romper because of the way he was rocking them in a couple episodes. Jonathan stresses to the guys that we have to actually take care of our bodies and do things for our overall well being, another great piece of advice we Rose students could use. Of course, this is all great but if the guy still behaves the same way he did before the makeover, nothing will have really changed. Enter Karamo Brown, the team’s culture expert. Karamo works with the guy throughout the entire episode making sure they feel comfortable with their new lifestyle and inspired them to be more confident in their lives.
