Se dice que San Luis, que fue Rey de Francia, cada vez que bautizaba a uno de sus hijos lo abrazaba fuertemente y le decía: “¡Querido hijo, hace un momento solo eras hijo mío, pero ahora eres también hijo de Dios!” ¿Qué padre no quisiera pues que su hijo forme parte de la familia de Dios? 2. Nos borra el pecado original. Cualquier padre que supiera que su hijo nació con alguna dificultad, por muy pequeña que ésta fuera, buscaría el remedio y se lo proporcionaría de manera inmediata. Todos nacemos con el pecado original, es la herencia de nuestros primeros padres. Y aunque no hemos hecho nada para merecerla, si podemos borrarla, y esto mediante el sacramento del Bautismo. 3. Nos hace miembros de la Iglesia. Por el Bautismo, al hacernos hijos de Dios, somos también hermanos y miembros de una misma familia, que es la Iglesia. Ojalá estas reflexiones nos ayuden a valorar el don del Bautismo y a dar gracias a Dios por el gran regalo recibido. Porque no investigas más sobre el día de tu Bautismo, quién te bautizó, dónde, y si puedes, visita la Iglesia donde fuiste bautizado y haz una oración de acción de gracias al Señor por el don de la fe que allí recibiste.
